all depends on your HP goals really. I will be going with a GT2871.

Well since TAG is out of business that really doesn't leave you with too many choices. Rebel Auto Worxs or the Garret 2.2 turbo kit with the ATP supercharger delete kit if you want a kit.

If you can do some fabbing, you could probably make your own kit for a lot cheaper anyhow.

::Cough:: EVO III 16G ::Cough:: That would easily put down 350whp with no questions asked.

If your even semi serious about going turbo, the best thing you could do is read this.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...rbo+ecotec+FAQ

I personally like the GT2871, or even a t3/t4 57 trim.

I'll make a list and post it up in a bit. Don't sell your HPTuners! That will be your money maker in this project! If you can't tune it, there are many tuners that are familiar with it that could tune you.

If you want 300-350...look at rebels gt28 kit and hahns super 20g (coming out soon hopefully)...if you want to save money, you can probably make your own kit for 2500-3000 if you know how to custom fab (which is not that hard) except if you were custom fabbing up a turbo header...that would be somewhat hard lol....

Hey blackss/sc, thanks for that website...It makes me interested in piecing my own kit together now....hmmm

About saving money, turbo prices can be different depending on the size, generation, brand, etc. A T3/T4 or a 16G is only half the cost of a GT2871R. This can be a real money sinker, people who have a lot of money and looking for big power can spend $3,000+ on a high-end turbo alone.

Honestly I can understand why people want the expensive ball bearing turbos. However, turbos like the Mistubishi EVO III and the t3/t4 variants with the thrust bearings have been doing people well for many years now. They also can last 100+K miles if taken care of properly. Personally I think most on here would be more than happy with 350-400whp, so the need for one of those high end turbos is basically unnecessary. Why spend $1100-1200 on a GT2871R, when you can spend $510 shipped for an EVO III 16G that will have full spool by 3000-3500rpms the latest while still giving enough huff to attain 350-400whp just like the DSM guys do.

I have priced out the parts I need to make my own kit, and at the most it would cost me $1500. That includes buying the manifold from vulcan, buying a $200 BOV, all stainless feed/return lines, all the mendral bends for the charge piping, a couple flanges/bungs, and a brand new real MHI EVO III 16G.

That is 100% correct. If you just cant justify purchasing a high end turbo because of budget constraints or just don't think it offers any advantage in your situation then by all means go with a 16G, there is nothing wrong with it and you will see similar results.

Exactly my point. There is no reason to spend a ton of money and still be able to get the same results. My Integra is a prime example of that. I bought the car for $500, fabbed my own turbo kit/exhaust, got some 560cc EVO injectors and a CRX injector resistor box, exhaust piping mendral bends, a BOV, SRT-4 intercooler, used Apexi AFC, and a small 16g turbo put the car at over 213whp and 208wtrq on the same dyno my Cobalt laid down 238whp and 230wtrq on with my 2.6" pulley, all bolt ons, and a great tune! The Integra is actually faster than the Cobalt and as it only weighs 2380lbs and I only had $2500-$3000 total into the car to include the newer engine I had to buy! All those parts were basically **** I bought off my buddies to clean out their garages for real cheap too!

Oh, and I forgot in the price above that it included the ATP Turbo Supercharger delete kit as well!
