2.2 crank on 2.0 block
2.2 crank on 2.0 block
i was wondering.... why cant we put a 2.2 crank and internals in a 2.0 block?? cranks have exactly the same specs with the exeption of stroke and material used... so why cant we buy a 2.2 eagle crank, rods, and some 2.2 pistons and put it in the 2.0??? same bore just longer stroke... is it because of different lengths of cyl sleeves?? if anyone has an answer it would be appreciated.... because as far as i know the only lsj crank they make is stupid expensive...
think it has more to do than just the rods/pistons/sleeves, different reluctor rings i believe, or something along that level...not to mention th ls61 uses a 6 bolt flywheel and the lsj uses a 8 bolt, dont know if that matters or not in this situation...
everything has been covered by jazer and jn2. plus the sleeves are the same aswell. and the 2.0 stock crank is good for some stupid power... i had mine lightened, balanced and knife edged and it made it even better. unless your lookin to build somethin 600hp+ your stocker is more than acceptable. the guy that worked mine over said its a beast and he would be comfortable using it at very, very high hp levels.
well i talked to bates engineering and they told me they where, the only dif was the piston pin location.... the rods are the same length. and if you buy the eagle crank for the 2.2, it doesnt come with the reluctor ring, you have to transfer them over... so you take the 2.0 one and put it on the eagle 2.2 crank.... get custom pistons and you can do a eagle 2.2 crank, keep lsj rods or you can get 2.2 eagle rods, and then custom made pistons....
