2.5 off 2.6 on

Well i've been running the 2.5 pully for a while now and thought the instant torque was great although the car seemed a little rough with it on. Tonight i went out for a drive and decided to give it a little burst on the interstate. Huge mistake, something went wrong and it felt like it was really damaged about 6 seconds into my "little burst". All power was cut off and it wouldn't pick up any more speed regardless of the amount of throttle. I pulled off the highway and tried driving it normal and it felt like s***. It felt okay until you tried to give it 1/4 throttle at which it would slowly, slowly pick up speed.I peddled it home, refilled the methanol and decided to take to the dealership with fear that i had chipped a piston or worse. Well halfway down the road it felt completely normal. I continued driving and decided to give it a 50 mph punch from second gear. As soon as i hit it i saw an instant 21.2 psi, 0.0 kr, and looked in the rear view to see two solid black lines from the stock Pirelli's . I was happy but still a little scared i had hurt something so i decided to try putting the 2.6 back on to see how it would respond because i've heard many discussions about how the 2.5 is overspinning the stock blower. As i started driving after the swap i noticed it felt much smoother as if i had taken a huge load off the engine. I felt like i lost a little torque but not enough to care to much about since i was so surprised at how much of a difference such a small change could make. I did the same 50 mph punch from second and was very pleased. I see no kr anywhere from second to third and it doesn't seem like i lost little if any power. I see an instant 19psi which builds and settles at 21psi. I think it was a very smart move for me considering i tend to drive my car a little hard. So what could have been a disaster turned into a nice discovery.

I've running it for the last 9,000 miles and have had no squeel or any problems so i was surprised to see that kind of a difference.

What we all need is a solid 15PSI with another blower or turbo that doesnt run as HOT.
I agree; that's why I think that the procharger will actually shock everyone with it's potential. I know that centris have their downside but I think on our specific application it could prove to be a really nice modification that won't be as expensive as some of the other conversions.

Yeah, i noticed the torque change first, and i'm running methanol too but the heat and humidity in st. louis can still be too much. So i'm gonna see how it feels and keep it on. I'm also gonna go to the track next week and see if i see any difference. I consistently trapped almost 109mph with the 2.5 on in 2900 ft. DA last week, so hopefully there is no change.

This is Kevin, the original owner of the car. I'm going to make him pull the plugs anyway, just to make sure he hasn't hurt anything. As for the pullies, I've been telling him for awhile to go to the 2.6", as it's much safer. Less heat, less parasitic loss, and not overspinning the blower. He was scared to at first, not wanting to give up the bottom end torque, but now the car will be easier to launch. We'll have track results next week, I doubt he sees any loss at all. If anything, I expect him to pick a little up on the top end since he's not using so much power to turn that 2.5" pulley, and since there's so much less heat. Just my opinion.

Ummmm....im pretty sure you are still overspinning the blower by about 1000 rpm @ 7k with the 2.6. Just look at it this way - instead of overspinning by this much with the 2.5, your only overspinning it by this much with the 2.6
