2.5" v 3" cai???

Okay I have been doing some research but have come up with little, I know for the TVS blower upgrade its better to use a 3"CAI (OTTP ect) however, is the 3" better on the stock blower or would it be better to just stick with my Injen 2.5" untill I get the TVS? Any and all advice is appreaciated, Thanks

The Injen intake is 2.75" O.D. (roughly 2.68" I.D.) & 3" at the MAF sensor housing. The K&N intake for the SS/SC is the same size as the Injen, and the rest of the intakes are 3".

A 3" intake is best for a TVS car, but almost all the intakes for the LSJ create the same amount of power (7-10whp on avg). There is really no proof which is best (other than fitment). I've tried a few (air box mod, XTC 3", Rebel 3", AEM, and Injen). The 3" intakes fit like crap on my car, because it's an 07'. As far as power goes, I harldy noticed a difference between any of them.

Spend your money else where (ie. a good tune, full exhaust, cooling, & traction mods).

Yea I was looking at the Rebal 3" plus I love the fact they will powder coat it for you and the Injen looks like crap (Crapy polish and red)

I have an 07 so hope it fits lol and yea love the scream!!!

Im probably going to just switch for a 3" since ill go TVS sometime in the future. Any advice for fitting it to the stock blower? Is it really that much of a pain in the a**

I had the Rebel intake on my 07'. It will fit, but it is a crappy fit. You have to bend the break lines, and it will rub on the PCM, and such.

ZZP looks like they revised their 3" intake (by the looks of the pic on their website), and made it one piece. If I were to purchase a 3" intake that's the one I would go with. It will also be a tight fit on 07's, but I think ZZP's quality is a little better than Rebel's.

FYI: The picture of the powdercoated (Gunmetal) intake on Rebel's website is of my engine bay when I used to run their intake.

I've got the Injen. The person that installed mine didn't use the rubber spacer given with the intake by the filter and I took it down the track once and broke the intake. I'm not going to waste money on an intake until I finish everything.

Yes.

(Most) people on this site still dont understand that our cars came with a cold air intake from the factory. Place a high flow air filter in place of the stock paper filter, and you will free up a few ponies.

Ya carefully bend the break lines, like light pressure and as for the pcm I just zip tied it to that black plastic piece it sits in and it doesn't rub anymore =P

I see they do have a revised intake....of course after I spend 200$ on the old model and its all jacked up from it rubbing on everything..wonder if the fitment is still the same.

no a real one will be better. the stock one has the silencer and a regular filter on it. thats why even doing the air box mod works. it is removing the silencer and putting on a better filter.

There is no silencer on the stock SS/SC intake.

Yeah definitely. The picture looks like the intake is wrinkle black or something though? They only have gloss colors as options....... kinda sucks, wrinkle black would be ****

Here is the reasoning behind ZZP's new intake:

"The only reason that we redesigned it is to fit the 2007 ABS, and coincidentally the 2007 style intake also fits the 2005-6 so we just ran them all the newer style."

I know there were people wondering, including myself.

I like the sound of that. I'll wait to hear from someone with an 07' that installs it though before I make a move. I've heard that line many times from other vendors, and the intakes still never cleared the breaklines.

Hell, Rebel designed their 3" intake on an 07', and it still fit like crap, haha. The newly designed ZZP intake def looks nice though. I like the one piece design.

Same! I'll most likely end up selling mine and getting the new one. I'm really really really not a fan of the 2-piece design. It doesn't fit very well, and the elbow-bend silicon coupler they send is a real pain to work with. Anyone who has it can confirm this.

For me, the less adjustable pieces, the better.

I might get the OTTP or the ZZP, probably the ZZP in the near future and I will let you all know how it is. I Just dont want to Jerry Rig all lines and all to make it fit.

A louder whine is always a plus!
