2.6 or 2.7 pulley for stock engine?
I love my stock 2006 cobalt ss but Im really considering some mods. What kind of modifications do you need for a 2.6-2.7 pulley on a stock engine? Is the stage 2 or 3 kit necessary or can I just do my own package?

2.6 in generally considered too small to safely run for a DD.
If you want to go the "stage kit" route, that fine. Or you can just piece everything together, it doesn't really mater since you should end up with all the same parts when you're done.

OK heres my own PERSONAL setup on a 2.7. I reccomend it as the car has held together SO FAR for 92xxx miles.
my own setup I have
2.7 pulley
3" intake
shorty header
2.5" catless downpipe
stock catback currently - switching to 2.5 zzp catback shortly
TTR motor and trans mounts - switching to powell rotated shortly
front mount heat exchanger
dual pass endplate
option b setup
snow performance stage 2 water/meth kit
dyno tune
2 stage colder plugs
Also related but unrelated I have
GMPP clutch upgrade
OTTP Stage 1 axles
and with the added power i have also added the following to make it more enjoyable
solid shifter base bushings
solid shifter bracket
bridgestone potenza pole position tires
r1 concepts cross drilled rotors/pads
and a full suspension also.
I have no complaints with my setup. made 265/249 and has done so and held up great
