Just ordered 2.7'', 60 lbers, shortened belt, correr plugs, for my 06 ss/sc and was wondering if it is safe to run this with no other mods except intake.. Do i absolutly need full exhaust or anything?THANKS!!!!!!

 

define safe . youll need to tune it traction mods. cooling mods like dual pass intercooler and/ or cobra HE

 

the 2.7 is about the borderline of what the stock cooling (intercooler) system will handle somewhat efficiently. a catback or header and DP will def help. but it's not really in the danger zone of what the motor will take (unless the tune sucks of course) Don't bother with the intake, just do the airbox mod and your car will love you for it,.

I"ve been running btwn a 2.7 - 2.55 pulley for @14000-15000 miles now with no issues other than blown axles (track, Atco, very sticky) I did have all the cooling mods.. but now am back to pretty much stock in that aspect.. and it's going strong at almost 19k on the clock

 

So do you think that cooling wise i should be ok and maybe just go with a HFC downpipe, headers, exhaust??

 

yeah for now you'll be ok.... I would recommend at least adding the cobra or anyother front mount intercooler just for if you plan on doing multiple WOT runs

 

Ok, thank you very munch. BIG HELP, so would you say get the cooling mods before the exhuast? sorry for all the question, i wanna get this right the first time..lol(how hard is install)

 

if you're going straight to a 2.7 with an exhaust you can get away with no cooling mods as long as you don't do a lot of back to back WOT runs. If you will be, do at least a front mount HE or dual pass first.
