2.8 or 2.9?

I've searched, and havn't really found a straight answer. Getting a ZZP Stage 3.

Currently my car is completely stock, and I would be getting the S3 HE. I want to get a dual pass by spring time (FWIW, it's getting cold here. Winter tires have already been on for a bit ).

Anyways, is a 2.8 that big over a 2.9? Reliability?

Gas mileage on the highway? (I do a lot of highway)

Thanks.

Joel

gas mpg prob will improve either or, realy it comes down to do you wan 42lb injectors or 60's. For the 2.9 maxes out 42's for most tunes and the 60's you can run with either pulley sizes. Just need to think how far your going to pulley down in the future but generaly speak the 2.8 and 2.9 are rather close to maken same power, more or less all about the tune, and other mods you have. Any smaller of pulley then you will need more than justa h/e and endplate for heat become a issue, but the smaller pulleys will net you more trq. I say do a 2.9 setup and get you a header/dp combo, decent exhaust and intake and learn to drive it to its full potential. Nuthn like seeing 400hp car at track still running high 12's and low 13's.

Doesn't the stage 3 come with 60lb injectors? Get the 2.8 without a doubt. It's very safe and perfect for bolt ons

If this is directed at me then maybe the GM3 is a little misleading. Its currently just the GM3 Tune with 42's in there and a 2.9. My injectors are good enough to run the tune apparently since my injectors are barely reaching its max during 1-4 WOT pulls.

So i just ordered the 60s and will now officially be considered a true GM3. 2.8 and S3 zzp HE is sitting in my car just waiting to be installed. Will most likely have the pulley and injectors installed at the dealership since it only cost me $35 last time to change out the pulley.

Will keep you posted when i run it next Sun hoping i get anything under 13.617

diff in 2.8 n 2.9 is 5hp tops! It's the tune. Doubt you'll feel a diff it that slight of a change. And to be true gm3 I would think you would need the gm3 pcm with its features not a zzp or others.

Well I picked it up today

I opted for the 2.8 over the 2.9, thanks for the input. Glad to hear its safe. Go big or go home I guess (Nobody tell me to get a turbo kit, not going THAT big .)

What octane are you guys running with it? It says they reccomend 93. I run 91 (Premium here). It won't knock will it?

Next up is the Intake .

Joel
