Same part or reference # for GM technician. then GM asks do you need stage 1 or 2 reflash?

the plan is to get stage 1, ask for stage 2 reflash, then put on the 2.8 or 2.7 pulley and belt. You need to be in tight with the dealer who is willing to ask for stage 2 reflash when you have bought the stage 1 kit. but they shouldnt care to much.

So how exactly is a non-slip pulley different from a regular one. I know it doesn't slip but how does it work? I won't need a tensioner with that right? What about a larger idler pulley...how does that work?

Are you sure????????????????? I believe that the instructions for the stage 1->2 kit were posted and they indicated that no further reflashes are needed.

I want to put the 2.7 Billetflow. Will I still run a little rich and what is the ratio is the perfect a/f ratio(10:1?)? Will other mods like intake and exhaust effect this?

10:1 is crazy rich. That's what our cars run stock for the most part. 12.5:1 would be beautiful. I've been wondering the same with the 2.7" pulley though.

1.) Are there any of you that have the GM stage II package and a 2.8" pulley? (SEE MY P.S.)

2.) If you answered YES to question 1, do you have any time slips, video, or any numbers of what the car is putting down?

3.) Also, I know that some have been asking if I believe the SFPH pulley will work with the GM setup, of if there is a pulley that will?

I ask all of this because I think Im going to use my discount to get the stage II package, and then slap a 2.8" pulley on it from SFPH and wondered what kind of numbers and times the thing should run. I want to get the stage II kit so I can put the GM 3. whatever" back on there for warranty work.

P.S. I read that someone here earlier purchased a stage I kit, and also somehow got a stage II belt. Is there a part number for the belt, or how was the stage II belt acquired?

Earlier in this thread it was posted that the hub that comes with the stage 2 does not work with the SFPH, you will need to pull it and go with the whole set from SFPQ. It's something I am thinking about. I just got my stage 2 put on today. Loving it but wanting more of course. For now I am going to add GMPP Header, either magnaflow or corsa *whichever is easier on the ears for cruising* and the K&N filter swap because I don't want to deal with the CEL from all the other CAI. NGK iridium plugs are on the list as well. What gap is working best out ther for folks?

Hopefully doing all that fist will wet my whistle for power. If that is still not enough then I will go with the 2.8" SFPH. The injectors from Stage 1, belt from stage 2 will all be fine to run the 2.8" non-slip. Just need to get the SFPH hub and puller tool from what I understand. That is probably the best set-up as a daily driver and that is my goal, very reliable, but enough tractable street power.

With the Stage 1 with 2.8" pulley how long do you all think the clutch will hold up? Is that the only weakspot if I keep the Wheel HP under say 285-300?

Also for the whole belt part add-on there may be a way to order a 'stage 2 replacement belt' I mean they gotta have a way to replace the belt if it cracks, shreds or is faulty ya know.

Currently I am working with a pulley vendor to get a 2.8" ring for the gm hub, my ported and polished s/c is on the way there for measurements with the gm hub...STAY TUNED!

My big question is this,
WHY did you waste your money on the GM stage2 kit only to void your warranty to go to a 2.8 pulley??????????????????????

They have tamper proof bolts on the pulley w/paint to prevent exactly this from happening.

you have got to be kidding, replacing the bolts before using them is a small price to pay...this way I keep the stock look and go smaller but if something happens I can still put the 3" pulley on and take it in.

1 time use?? Makes sense to me

To quote the guy who just had his stage 2 installed on his ION who i let drive my car,

"FUC#, i just wasted almost a 1000.00 on this slow a$$ stage kit" He doesn't like how the timing drops off after shifts and makes the car "feel" sluggish. He isn't after the max, just something better.

To each his own It's not a big deal, i'm just trying to understand the logic

there isnt that much difference between intesnse and gm except tuning and pulley sizes and injectors on the larger kits, at least someone can go up to them if they want, some people are happy with the stages some want more, its an individual thing.

I for one want the stage to start and will go from there, I have the supporting mods to support whatever I want.

at least getting a vendor to have the ability to make gm hubbed rings is a bonus for all with the stg 2 kits

i'm sure also that if intense and GTP develop a stage 2+ flash that works with the gm stage kit and removes those negatives from the gm flash that would be a good deal for others...

Let me know how this goes. I may be interested after a while. For now GMPP Header and Corsa touring are on order. I hope to get around 255 HP or so to the wheels before the
2.8"

Ya know, I believe this is true. However that is pretty crazy that GM would go to all of this trouble to maintain the warranty. Makes me wonder if GM ever comes out with a warranty stage 3 kit it will have very little to do with the pulley size.

I have my old parts from the 3.0" IF I go with the 2.8" route.

Also I've been reading all over the place the argument that the supercharger is good to 14K RPM as redline and 16K to RPM as redline. Most of the evidence says 16K RPM redline. What then is the smallets pulley that can run on our eaton without going over 16K RMP?
