2.8" Questions
2.8" Questions
Okay, so i've been planning and am going to soon within the next few weeks purchase GM Stage 2 and a 2.8 inch pulley.
Now my question is if you put the 2.8" on will it hurt more than help your hp/tq?
I have heard it mentioned that it makes it run to rich, others say it leans it out so i'm somewhat confused.
Now I realize, that with a tune better than the one GM offers you would be getting better results, but is the GM tune sufficient to run a 2.8"?
Also just to make it not to rich and not too lean how much tuning would that entail?
Finally is a 2.8" to big for 60lb injectors, and a custom tune?
Heres my other question for the guys who want the GM modular pulley, but thats it wouldn't it be better to buy the Stage 1 to 2 kit and just get 60lb injectors and a 2.6 pulley and a custom tune? It would at least be cheaper.

the tune would be for the 60# injectors so the car can throw the right amount of fuel into the engine... a 2.6" pulley will not fit on the GM hub. Pulley Boys makes the 2.8 and i think that it the lowest you can go on the GM hub. but ZZP offers a 2.6" modular pulley system that does not need snout machining.. i definately noticed the difference between the 3" to 2.8".. the car ran better with the 2.8" and it seemed to me that's what should have came with the stage 2 kit. you definately feel the tq
a 2.8 will run FINE on a stg1/stg2 car.
the 43's will give ya enough fuel to do so.
and sence the GM tune is far richer then needed(sp?) for warrenty issues you'll be ok once agen.
BUT as you stated for best results get a custom tune.
good luck with what ever you pick.
