You can run a 2.9 just fine on the stage 2 reflash but I think it would be pushing it with a 2.8. If you want to go with a 2.8, just make your own stage kit and get a custom tune. That will work much better.

it runs good! but i never redline any gears because i dont know what would happen i might blow my internals or something bad that will cost alot to fix. but yeah for right now you can get the reflash it would hurt anything i had it done 4k miles ago and so far no problems and i never get on it everywhere like alot of people do only when im racing someone or at the track!

If the guy doing the custom tune is reliable, it is well worth the $100-200. You would be glad you got the custom tune with a 2.8". A world of difference.

I have been running the 2.8 on a Stage 2 flash for about 3 months, and it runs great. I dynoed the Cobalt about 1 week after getting the Stage 2 put on to check AF ratios and they were good, just finally got my HPTuners stuff and have performed a few runs to log some data and so far everything looks great (In terms of IDC and AF's) still I am taking my time with it so I fully understand all of the parameters available in the VCM. But so far I have no complaints about running the 2.8 Pulley and Stage 2 Flash, however keep in mind that not all cars are the same even if they are the same model, some folks have not had luck with the 2.8 or at least do not feel comfortable with it.

I on the other hand feel comfortable with it, and with HPTuners I am now able to log and check things out in a little more detail. Of course I do not beat my car either, but I have gone WOT with my current setup, and I have surprised quite a few individuals.

i would really go with a custom tune, and larger injectors wouldnt be a bad idea either.

gm tune is only for injectors, thats why there is so different in the stage 1 and 2 except pulley and belt and hub. If you can get the flash cheap and run around a little while with yu will be happy then get a tune. The injctors can handle the pulley, BUt for how long is th question. I have the stage 1 and then did the 2.85 no problems yet... And i plan on a dyno tune soon... My friend has the same setup for more then 6 months with no problem. If you do it get a wideband to check oyur a/f ratios or get a scan by someone with hptuners too make your within safe limits.

like someone said I have seen people run 2.8 on stock injectors ,even 2.6 and not blow up, also seen a stage 1 with 2.9 blow up so each car is different they are a lil freeky

i suppose i could get away with smaller injectors but why risk it? and now if i decide to mod more i dont have to worry about replacing the injectors again.

i think i'm getting fuel cut b/c of my 2.79. I know i'm running about 270hp and the 42lb injectors are maxin their duty or coming pretty close. I have been running my dual pass setup for almost a month now and I've had to take my intake off b/c of the fuelcut at RPM's higher than 6. After i did that the car runs fine. Weird how just the pipe for my injen intake can do that b/c when i bought the car it already had an AEM cold air, it just bolts up to the stock pipe. Having suspicion that it might be positioning of MAF but am not absolute.
