2.9 42#'s

"is this a good combo?"

SO SICK OF THIS QUESTION! and of the people that give that advice. Ok, it's been proven that even the stage II pulley and tune are puching the 42's to the limit. why push it harder?

for all the guys that jump in here, yes, you can run a 2.9 with 42's, no your engine may not blow up. a lot of guys have been running it for extended amounts of time, but just do your engine a favor, and buy 60's.

please, stop telling people that if they get a 2.9 or even 2.8 they'll be ok on the stage II injectors, it's not good advice.

a heat exchanger does not change your idc's!!! I dont care if you have all of the damn cooling in the world, if you have 42lbers and the stage 2 tune, the 2.9inch pulley is pushing it, if you go to a 2.8, dont run it apast 6500rpms or your idc's will be through the roof, over 130%, can you say static?

you can't run it past 6500 on a stage2 tune.

i'm not disagreeing with you about the 2.8-2.9 with 42's. its def. pushing it. just saying that the rev limiter is still 6500 on a stage2 tune.

i thought you had to have an after market tune, like hpt or the stage3 pcm in order to up the limiter?? guess i'm wrong.

no flaming for not knowing about the stage2 haha. i had never intended on wasting my money on it. was gonna go straight to 60's and a 2.9 with hpt

i'd say use it to pay the car off, but we're getting off topic.

this was meant for those geniuses that tell all the newer guys that a 2.9/2.8 will be fine with 42's.

=P. Getting back on topic guys. The stage 2 tune from gm raises the rev limiter to 7k rpms. With that being said if you run a 2.8 pulley you wont be able to take your car to 7k without pushing the injectors to far, plain and simple.

some people do, however there not on the stage 2 tune, which is resulting in there 93% idc's cough not letting any names out.

If you would like i will post logs of a 2.8 on a gm stage 2 tune on wednesday

the car is going to the shop tuesday for a tune, i will have them do a single run with the 2.8 and 42lbers to show the issue, then will put in the 60lbers, tune, and show the increase and the correct way.

Also, my personal own copy of hptuners pro will be here tuesday or no later then wednesday.
