2005 SS vs 2006 SS SC Any difference at all?

Is there any difference at all between these two models?

I ask because I picked up a 2006 SS SC and I'm hoping to hear that there is SOMETHING (anything) different about it. Why? Well the 2005's were sold out and I could have gotten an even better deal + the gas card with a 2005. So I really just wanna feel better here (doubt it will happen lol)

anything? thanks guys

the 06s might be less sensative to airflow, seems like fewer 06s throw codes with cold air kits ect.

You get the satisfaction of know all the first year bugs were worked out on the 05's , so you shouldnt have to deal with it on your 06 .

If you got Laser Blue, that color is new for 2006. Otherwise, everything other than the SS badge on the doors is moved down, and the GM quality badge sits behind the front wheel. Plus in Canada, you can now get the G85 package on 2006 models. This option was unavailable on 2005's.

Not much changed for 06 as far as techncial improvement
OnStar Gen 6.1 with improved voice recognition for starters...
Plus the 06s have a new theft deterrant system called Pass Key III+ that uses a transponder inside the key (if you look at the key it has a "+" symbol on it)
Last years Cobalts had old unreliable PassLock system (like the old Jbodies)

the 2006 model has the SS badge at the bottom of the door while the 2005 are in the middle.

Cobalt SS/SC 06 air filter element ...

I was surfing on Rock Auto parts, and it seems that the air filter isn't the same part number for the 06 and the 05.

The 06 air filter could be a bit less restrictive, it could explain why wee tend to see a couple of HP more on top for the 06 SS/SC, along with a leaner air fuel mixture too at WOT.

2005 Cobalt SS / SC air filter : GM #15239447

2006 Cobalt SS / SC air filter : GM #15036141

It could explain also why the 06 are less sensitive to CAI and didn't throw any (or less) CELs.

The PCM's for both years aren't the same numbers too.

There's an optional heat seaking missile that will fire automatically if your losing a race and destroy the opponent.

Humm, you might check these links..

the Cobalt and the Ion get the MU3 F35 transmission. They can now both be ordered with the G85 option which is the LSD.

Here is the photo of it..

F23 trans goes in base , LS LT and n/a SS . F35 is the SAAB trans and has been the trans used in the 05-06 supercharged SS .

Fastfieros- the LSD was available shortly after the 05 was released , so both 05 and 06 got it . Most of the 06 changes are unseen , like PCM calibrations , trim mods that appear to look unchanged ( I.e. fabric pulling from the passenger door ) and the best thing is the XM and onstar antenna's were combined into 1 . that shoulda been on the 05's
