2007's Wheel Hop
2007's Wheel Hop
am i the only one with a 2007 who gets no wheel hop? unless its raining my car will NOT wheel hop, i can launch hard at 3k, and it just spins, no hopping though.
If i floor the car in first gear after i have the clutch out, it will squeal the tires some, but basically just goes.
Stock except for K&N typhoon. Did GM change something to limit this, i know the motor mount is slightly different.

I have a 07 now, and have had 2 06's. The wheelhop is the same. Go to the track where the surface is prepared and sticky and you will get wheelhop if you launching hard. I was launch fairly hard bone stock in my 07 at the track, and would get real bad wheelhop. Had to let out of it, but still ran mid 14's traping at about 95mph bone stock. Have not ran it modified yet, but I expect the wheelhop to be even worse.
I have a 07 and have never experienced wheel-hop. It may be that we dont make enough power yet, and most of the people who complain of wheel hop have S2 or other mods. Just a thought!

a. grip and pull the car along like normal (best case)
b. tires start to spin and you lose traction (ehh case)
c. wheel hop occurs, when the tires don't want to spin because of good tire/road traction but the wheels still are turning faster than the car wants to go. the hop occurs because of this. creates the car/front tires to bounce the car...
how is wheel hop something that someone/good driver wants?
anyone would rather spin the tires than get wheel hop...that is my point. read and understand what OP is acutally talking about.

to see if you get wheel hop:
when or right after it stops raining, go to a hill somewhere in your area in a safe location.. push in the clutch, let it coast down the hill a little (maybe a foot) then get it up to about 3k RPM's and pop the clutch.. you'll get wheel hop, i promise.

i actually thought the wheel hop problem was a little better when i got stage 2 installed, instead of hopping it just spins. still hopped though so i got the ingalls and it really helped alot
my car will wheel hop for sure in the rain. but if its dry it wont do it at all. just as another side question, how many people here "drive through" the wheel hop? if my car does it, well it doesnt but when i found out it would do it in the rain, i would let off, regain traction, and drive away normally. i have heard my friend with the 05, and from other poeple they just stay in it until the next gear?!?! i can only imagine wheel hopping a car will make it wheel hop a little easier each time.
many things i hear people complain about with these cars i do not experience, like the "junk stock clutch" thing, i dont get that at all. ive only had my car for one month, and have 1300 miles on it, but i dont see anything wrong with the clutch, ive never once had it slip, i can lay a few feet of rubber going into second and chirp third. my friend has an 05 ss/sc and his first clutch lasted him 70 miles!!! 70!! he is on his third right now...
driver mod FTW is right, my mustang pulls 1.60 sixty foot times on 26x8.5 MT's, runs 11.90's at 113+ (all motor FTW), and ive had the same 200 dollar ford clutch for three years, has over 50 passes easy.
Makes it very hard to interpret opinions online.

depending on traction conditions I may or may not get wheel hop..... usually when I launch the car on the street I dont get hop. But as of this weekend I will have the Turbo Tech Racing mount kit
Not in these cars, at least not w/out wheel hop. I think that is Sealy's point. ANYONE can get wheelhop, but not EVERYONE can just spin the tires w/out it. Have you ever driven an SS/SC?
not letting off is dumb because wheel hop can break a lot of **** in your car. if you just 'ride through' it you're only increasing your chances of breaking an axle. bottom line wheel hop is bad and you should avoid it at all costs
