WHAT WE ALL NEED TO ASK IS......how much true lag will there be, so what if it hits 260 at the crank,(thats another question, the saab 2.0t is 250 hp, but 207 at the wheels stock go figure! will this be rated the same?) if the redline is only 6200 rpms, and it has major lag at the low end, the 260 at the rev limit will hardly make up for its lack at the start.

The gear ratio's and other variables will determine if the turbo is true faster or not. Just because numbers are higher means dick all.

keep in mind too, our car dynos roughly 205-210 whp stock
thats 235-240 crank hp stock, not much difference. . . and the enimic low end torque helps with our launch, the new one will just spin like its srt 4 cousins do.

To make the best use of turbo lag, dont launch under boost, launch on the motor to grab traction, then come on the boost, sure you may still get wheel spin, but not as much if you go under full boost. Alot of NO2 guys do it the same way, no point in wasting nitrous just to spin your tires.

If I can get a decent trade value and keep my payments the same then I will trade the SS/SC for an SS/TC....If I cant then I'm calling it quits with GM, I'm jumpin' ship towards a manufacturer who usually gets it right the first time.... GM always drops the ball

If they do do the turbo on the cobalt wont it make it somewhat heavier then the supercharger? Cause of all the extra stuff it will need dont get me wrong the power will compensate for it but why would you want a heavier car just my opionion and GM needs to fix what supercharged problems they have for now.....

I dont think there is any substance to these claims. I have looked everywhere under the sun about a 2008 Cobalt turbocharged SS and I cant find it anywhere. The only thing i've found is a 2.0L turbocharge engine that they plan on dropping into the HHR next year, not the cobalt. I have no doub that they will eventually do it (which is why im trying to sell my SS/SC right now) but as for 2008, i highly doubt it. Im throwing the BS flag on this one for right now at least.

GM doesnt want to build a really quick/fast small car or they would as they have the Z06 to do their bragging with and they dropped the Camaro and Trans am years ago. Sure they are finally bringing back the Camaro again as a 2 ton heavyweight so its no big deal.

You dont have to belive it , there is no public proof yet . A select few people that DO know whats up are sharing info they have . Unless it changes between now and then , April 2008 is when the 2009 will be in showrooms . The LNF HHR is in December 07 . I really doubt youll hear any GM release of new SS until after the first of 2008 , as they said they would be building extra 2007 SS's to last thru the gap of no SS model <---u wont find that info anywhere either .

And ..... the Cobalt has no bearing on the Camaro . The new SS Cobalt WILL be faster than the v6 Camaro , just as the top of line new Camaro will be faster than the base LS3 Corvette . The Camaro and Cobalt are in entirely different markets and the SS model would not be discontinued to make the base Camaro shine ....thats not the way it works Up till recently the Cobalt SS/SC , outside the Corvettes , was the fastest chevy made .....and GM didnt have a prob at all moving slower $30K plus 3.8 supercharged Montes and Impala's before they both got the LS4 V8's .

I made my bet getting the '07 SS/SC because I didn't trust there would be a '08 SS turbo. It would be fantastic if GM did do it, they should do it, but who knows if they will.

I don't know about this, but I can say that I've seen something similar happen. I have a friend that worked at Acura for a while and he told me about the turbocharged engine in the RDX about a year before it happened. Think about that, someone telling you Honda was coming out with a turbo from the factory. I called bs but I was dead wrong.

Also, I'm a tech at Mercedes and saw the new c-class a long time ago. The thing is bad ass; it's basically an S-class front end with a CL-class rear but on a small chassis. They are going to try and fit a 6+ litre V8 into the AMG

I agree with some of this, there will be no high end performance model next year for '08, IMO, the 2.4 will live on though..

imo i think gm better release a turbo charged ss in 08 as an 09 model because if they dont the cobalt will get burried and die in the competition. thats one reason why i sold my 07 cobalt to buy an 05 SRT-4, and i know of a few guys that made the same change as me.

so you sold an 07 cobalt, cuz you didnt want your car to be buried in the competition....
and you bought one that got buried 2 years ago....

genius.

if you didnt want a car thats buried. you should have bought a MS3 or a GTI or waited for the SRT4 caliber.
