If you don't replace the pistons, springs and headgasket there is no way you are going to get 300 whp without blowing something up. Maybe the car will live for a short while, but if you are going to put all the money into the car to get it up to 300 whp why not go all the way and make it safe?

there is no way you can get 300whp for anything less then 5k. you can try all you want and you might get close to it but, if you dont build the engine you will blow it. i blew my engine with only stg 3 on my car, the cat clogging helped also. once my car gets done and tuned it will be dynoed, im sure that i will make well over 300whp. im building my motor with new pistons, head work, full race port and polish. all im saying is that you must build your motor to support the hp. if your going to do it make sure you do it right.

Cobalt-addiction has their stage 6 kit that they claim produces 95hp/100ft lb tq. there's your 300hp and 300ft lb tq. was thinking about getting it myself, but i yet to see or hear of anyone else having it.

the pistons in the LSJ are rated to handle right around 300.. anything higher then 300, i'd recommend aftermarket pistons

what if u dont have a friend with hptuners???

you have to grind down to get a 2.5 pulley

wow i mean seriously if you dont have evidence to back your **** up stfu

i wouldnt be getting pissy with you if you didnt get that way with me
wow, relax. even if you dont have a freind with HPT, it's only another 400 to buiy it yourself chief!

I have seen a dyno od 294 with a 2.6" pulley.

had everything I listed minus the pulley

Tell you what, I am going to do it, scan all my recipets, and give them to you. WIth meth injection and full exhaust I will be there.

And that is only another 1k away that will put my grand total to about 3000 THen throw in another 1,500 for axels and clutch. It could have been done a lot cheaper too.

I spent:

100 2.5"
200 60# injectors w/ harness
500 Hptuners for myself
300 LC-1 WB AFR
250 KN CAI
050 in misc (plugs, idler)

1350 total in power mods.

I need to spend to get 300whp:

300 Meth injection
700 exhuast

so that brings my total to:

2400. THose are just the power parts. Then I have suspension and the like done, so the total now is 2700 in parts. for 300whp.

From there you would need axels and a clutch, not needed for the power, but needed for a track NOT A DYNO whiohch is kidna what were tlaking here, a dyno queen if all you care about is 300whp

so add 1500 for clutch and axels, and your at 3200, way under 5k, and with all the parts you need to have 300whp reliably AND performance suspension more than you asked for for less than you stated!

if you didnt want the suspesion, you cald have slipped in just under 3k

alright... well if you can pull this off you will be one of the few...

i will praise you for that..... **** you will be my hero

but even though we are talking about getting to the dyno i guarantee your not just having the car for show so if you do have 300 horse i bet your going to use it...

and if you can install all of this yourself more power to u

that saves easily 3g

and whats this??? 300 LC-1 WB AFR

Now I agree with a lot of what you say. And have respect for the DIY side of things.

I won't even let somebody else change the oil on my baby

But, lets look at your numbers

2700 + 1500 = 3200

So with our friend math involved, your plans add up to $4200, with no install or random tool trips

Also, $300 for suspension is pretty weak, and most of us have dropped alot more than that, CABs, Trans mounts, and a motor mount or torque brace = ~$500

Add some Drag Radials to hold that power and/or the ever popular drag bags,,, and you're well over 5k

It's in the numbers man. We hafta pay to play.

And that's not even looking at beefing up the motor incase 300hp isn't the ceiling, since at that point we've already dropped about 5k+ anyways

SCREW TRANNY AND CLUTCH!!! If it can go on a dyno and make 300whp THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!!! So what if you try to go WOT, and it will explode the clutch and eat the tranny! You still have more (unusable) power that the other guy! I'm seriously doing my car that way, I have a 2.6" pulley, intake, 3" exhaust, header, 60# injectors, and tuned, all on the stock clutch and tranny.

^^No worries man. You hafta admit you'll be much closer to the 5k mark than you thought though

I think there are probably a few out there who are really close to that point, and there has to be a few past that

The pistons will hold over 300whp. This has already been proven by Twincharged's redline at 330whp. How much more is beyond me. The headgasket and studs are you first hurdle to make 300whp. Trust me as I already found this out. I'll let you guys know when I return home, as it is my goal to make 300+whp and still be reliable with the stock pistons.

That is what I am interested in. I have seen Twincharged's ride and see that it has run 330 with the stock pistons but I am curious to see how reliable it is at that level. Once I crack open my engine for pistons, I imagine I will do some other things as well.

Well, i wont be that close to 5k. The numebrs I posted arn't what I paid, but what everyone esle does

I do a lot of DIY and all my own installs, probably saves me 40% of what mos people spend

Im a DIY guy and I saved a bunch of $$$$$! 42LB injectors, 2.8 pulley, stage 2 belt, injector wiring harness and reflash. I paid a total of 210 dollars. And im preety hooked up with the HPTuners. Used injectors, gaurenteed by the owner. New pulley, but never installed. New belt from crateenginedepot.com. New harness, but never installed. And me and LJ are HPTuner buddies LOL.

You can save alot by just checking your forums classifieds!
