So you're trying to sleeve into the downpipe a little bit to prevent leaking out of the flange there?

Clever.

I don't see a moderator tag under your name... but it looks like your sucking up to get one.

I personally hate when members do that... cause how many 'I hate ZZP' and 'JBP header suck' threads have I had to wade through... now people are getting ass hurt over a ******* sig.
No wonder this place has a bad image sometimes.

They keep saying that, and people keep reporting warped flanges and header/dp leaks.

Agreed, it's weird looking but makes sense for a flat 2bolt flange.

i just ordered a downpipe a few weeks back and it does not leak. anyone with half a brain could look at their previous flanges and tell they were warped, it was visible to the eye so that shows how far off they were.

the new one was actually leveled

The illustrations show my recently purchased and delivered combo. I love this combo and it works well. This is my second set. The first I purchased in a group buy sometime around October/November of 2007. I ran this combo until last weekend as the headers rusted through where the primaries meet the collector (leaking in the center with holes in two primary tubes). The headers were mild steel with a ceramic coating. I never had an issue with a leak at the flanges in all of that time. The pipe did break at the flex but was backed by the manufacturer. My downpipe with highflow cat was stainless and is still in great condition.
Hence, I needed to replace the header. I read all of the posts concerning leaks at the two bolt flange. Since I never experienced this I decided to purchase the stainless header with a stainless catless downpipe. I installed the new set only to find I had about a 2/16" gap at the center of the flanges when bolted together. I tried my old catted downpipe (which never leaked) and that gap was just as bad.
I took my set to a custom exhaust shop to see if they could true the flanges. After talking about several options I decided to try having an extension welded into the primary which fits perfectly into the downpipe. The concept is the same as a fire ring in a gasket. Needless to say that I still have a small leak but no where near as bad as it was. I have ordered a Remflex gasket in the hopes that their stated technology will completely stop the leak.
I am very happy with the power this product produces but not the issue with the flange. So I had one set that never leaked at the flange and one that does. To those prospective buyers this means you have a 50/50 chance that you will not recieve a combo that leaks at the flange. Great product with an issue that has been discussed in these forums for years.

i had the same problem after i got it bolted up! it was ridiculous that is why i was trying to sell it but then i just bent the flanges away from each other so they would force the center to stay together and didn't crank it down horrilbly! btw a 2000-2004 4.3 L S-10 (after the cat) gasket will fit right up to it if you got the 3" collector and 3" dp, you just have to drill the holes where the screws go in to get the bolts through. fixed my problem right up and love the power and noise increase that i got from this combo

and self this is a combo not a seperate header and dp so they would have to come together brand new...not saying that you didn't know that already, just saying

Hopefully the Remflex gasket will do the trick without further modification
