52000 miles

im just about to hit 53000 miles and my engine light came on, is this normal just telling you to go i for 50000 mile service or is it something else? help appreciated thanks

Go to an auto parts store and have them read the code that is causing the CEL

i hate how civics and a few other vehicles have that stupid maint required light and some people seem to think its like that on all cars. sorry nothing against you and just a personal rant. but as everyone else said get it scanned and we can help ya out more.

so got the code. something to do with thermostat. and coolant not running hot enough? ideas?

bad t-stat, its most likely stuck open and not allowing your coolant to reach operating temp. What does the DIC say your coolant is at after youve been driving? it should be around 180

x2, mine is usually around 198

sure it wasnt your temp sensor tyler? the t stat is just a valve that opens/closes

sorry bud but someone walked you for some $$$. my 2.4 has done this before and they cant find the problem. it hasn't happened in about 8 months and my cooling sys has never been touched. i would think is more of a sender of BCM issue

Considering it got replaced for free... I dont see how i was walked for money...
And yes Brett sensor was perfectly fine, it was the actual thermostat that broke.

crate engine depot has them for 36 + ship;

They are kind of a pain to get to because the fuse box has to be disconnected and removed to get to it.

It should take you no more than 30 mins
