For what it's worth here's some facts:

1. Stock valvetrain is good to nearly 10k. There is no issues with shifting very high if you like.

2.super small pulleys aren't making HP. Some torque but if you have 18-19 psi and you drop in pulley size, you'll lose more than you gain.

zoomer I hear you on the loss.... I"m done with this s/c real soon... just trying to see if I can actually hit 300whp before tearing into the car again... if my car didn't pull so much timing and my meth line didn't burst I think I might have done it sat when I dynod but with 13.5 deg of timing still hit 281whp

I raise the bullshit flag on number one for sure considering my first engine blew because of the lovely valvetrain in these cars, and all I had was a intake! Ask a few others on here about the valvetrain. Anything over 7400-7500 rpm is asking for serious trouble!

Was that on race gas or 93? AND 13.5 deg timing!!! Last night my car was running 4 deg timing and still getting knock in the upper rpm range! I have arizonas shitty 91 octane crap gas to thank for that, because we put 3 gallons of 101 octane, added several degrees of timing and got no knock! Today I'm gonna add more, and try and get the AFR to around 12.

I am still getting knock up top.... played with my tune alittle this morning.... have to wait until tonight to test it out and see what happens.... I might just pull some timing ut and see what it does (I run 25 deg's)

25 deg with a 2.55 pulley... We thats prolly why I'm getting so much knock! We were trying to 28 deg, and it got so much knock the car limited it to 10 psi! Sounded kinda weird cause the blower wine was pulsing as almost half the boost was being bled off.

Dan for President!!!!
sure are a few RL's in this thread

my rev limiter is set to 7200 rpm's, and the car pulls HARD all the way till i shift at 7100. didnt want to go much higher than that.... i dont go to the track often, so not much use for anything higher. i mean ****, its hard finding a chance to ride second that high on these city streets.

why the hell would it pull timing? Even if it did, you could just ADD too much timing at higher RPMs, so that it ends up right where you want. Either way, it is a BS reason.

I do it so I have a little breathing room. I have a touch more time to shift before the engine cuts fuel and things get hot. Coming through the traps at 107+ on the redline 17" rims means 7100rpm+. I need that breathing room. It's better to rev it to 7200, than to bouce it at 7100.

PS) I have hit 7600+ rpms on more than one occasion... would I reccomend it.. HELL NO, but if you do it a couple times...you'll probably be ok.
