Is 97,000 miles to high to start modding?

I have an 06 SS/SC with 97k on the motor and about 10k on the tranny and clutch (which was replaced by an aftermarket warranty) and was thinking about going zzp stage 3 this spring and all the car has is CAI and Flowmaster muffler on it. It's my DD and would the stage kit be too much for a motor with that high of millage?

Nope. I have 109k on my 2.8 pulley 2.2.

Ecotecs are super reliable.

Nope. Just started my turbo swap at 104k on my 06. If you changed the oil on time and never really beat the **** out of it, you'll be good. If **** breaks, just throw a stroker in her. Haha

Haha this! If something breaks that only means it's time for a build

The engine should be fine but a compression and leakdown test can tell u more about the engines health.

best advice given so far all I can add is a leakdown is more accurate and reliable then a comp test

The only issue I have now is the P0172 code but I guessing it's the intake. Oh and need to replace the ic pump asap.

It was beaten hard enough to blow thru a cutch and tranny already. Stage two will wake it up.

^^^^^^

I blew my first at 25k..well i cracked 2 pistons.
The tune will be key here...the stock lsj pistons r not very forgiving with knock. So unless u have a good reputable tuner near by i would stick gm s2 on it and find ur self a back up car before u get to far into moding it.

the tranny didn't blow it was a broken shifter linkage and the warranty company inspector decided to have the whole thing relpaced but the clutch was my fault haha

You're never too old to start modding. And you will always remember the name of your first mod.

Started modding last spring with 103K on the motor. Took it up to ZZP and had them run the test and check the motor out and it was in great shape. I have the stage 3, 3" DP, CAI on my car now. No problems in almost a year. Well except the canned tune sucking but that'll be taken care of soon.

not too late, but regarless any added power will reduce the overall longevity of the car, and that is a fact.
