Just paid for the 2.9 from ZZP and the NGK's from Cobalt-Addiction.

Now one last question: how necessary is the dual pass intercooler plate?

ahh, for a 2.9 u probabaly dont need it, but its worth it, if so get the option B kit from CED, and there your set, i just actually started to put my dual pass kit together, made brackets, for the second surge tank and everything

No I don't have a heat exchanger. So I should get a heat exchanger, then the dual pass plate? Or the other way around? How hard are each of them to install?

And so if I'm understanding right, the dual pass only helps in cool down?

Will it hurt my car if I don't have it at first? Cause it'll be a few weeks before I can get it.

no it helps to prevent heat soak better recliam the power you already have. get both of them at once so you don't have to redo the plumbing twice

Been doing the 2.8 pulley thing for months now. Definately runs lean up top, shifting at 6k RPM. Just need a tune.

2.8 feels the same as the 2.90..... which is probably a bad thing...

what on earth are you smoking? byebye motor HAHAHAHAHA....

it honestly depends on your climate and elevation, some cars in certain areas can handle it fine, some are near sealevel and push more boost subsequently which takes the injectors out of there efficiency range.

i know plenty of guys who ran the 2.8 on the stg 2 for months without issues, its a rich tune as it is...leame that **** out!

Too bad that you offer advice on something you know nothing about other than whats been told to you! I have run a 2.79 on a gm stage2 tune for almost 10,000 miles! Not so much as a code! And there are no IDC problems either! Believe me I drive hard every time I touch the key! And yes I have had it checked after the initial install and 1500 miles.
No disrespect but should you choose to comment in the future, use research, NOT hearsay.

i have a log file to discredit. this will be posted tonight.

in the mean time. go check your a/f from 2-7k with a wideband. i bet your injectors are pissed off, and the a.f is spiking at 6k to the 12's

Oh hell yes....our af is spiking high 12's from 4-6.5K wot with a 2.85, stage 2 and 42's and idc's at 117% at 6300 plus with the 2.85 and crap 91 octane its pulling 8-10 degrees timing wot. Just depends on alittude, temps and what not how itsd gonna do. Incidently I gotta wipe the black soot out/off of the tailpipe every 3 days. Go figure. Probaly gonna throw a 2.9 on until a tune is done or maybe even the S2 pulley back on, especially with cooler weather coming.

if it makes you feel any better, i got 242 to the tire out of a s2 car in 100+ degree heat and 80% humidity.

heat plays a big role. when winter time comes, things get cooler. power starts to rise, and motors start to blow.

I just ordered a 2.9 pulley this morning and taking the 2.85 off. Im just not comfortable running the 2.85 at sea level without a tune as the car is driven very hard and almost every gear in town shifted at 5k+. Might not make a whole lot of difference number wise but the idc's should drop down and afr's get somewhat better.
