a 2.9 isn't going to hurt the car. it puts in on edge. or if you want to stay safe, go to a stage 3

You have to have a stage 2 in order to do stage 3 correct? Also Ive never seen a place to buy a "stage 3" nor do I know what it entitles?

err did a search and found it! thanks!

i was talking the pulley itself. you can get over 260 fwhp out of the stage 2 pulley, WITH other mods.

OK after reading this thread, I too have decided to go with the 2.9. I have the intake and working ok getting an exhaust. Living in northeast AL it is hot as hell here, but with winter coming I feel the 2.9 will still be safe. Car is running 12.5psi on stage2 now what will the 2.9 pulley bring the boost up to? anyone?

with stage 2 it should be around 15psi i believe. 12.5 is stock.

Ok so stage 3 pulley is ~2.99" and stage 2 is ~3.07" and going that extra .09 from 2.99 to 2.9 is really that much of a difference to make it unreliable?

2.79

its fine to run with a 2.79 pulley.

i have a 2.79 pulley 42 lb injectors GM stage tune cold air intake and have a 10.5 dyno tested a/f

SS33 has an almost identical setup to mine and a interceptor guage and he sees no knock.

I have had this discussion a million times on this site before. they always end the same.

i already know the posts that are coming after mine.
1.) HP tuners says idc is 128% duty cycle.
my rebutal the cars that i have seen blow engines around here were 60 lb cars running 2.5's and such.... i have yet to see somebody with my setup blow up their engine.

that being said...i am on the ragged edge of danger. i put down 253 hp 232 trq about 4 months ago at VT engines in lansing and had a 10.5 a/f we heard no knock or ping.

i do add octane boost before trips to the drag strip.

i have been running this setup for around 12,000 miles, two trips to the track, and multiple trips to the dyno.

all with 0 problems. i do throw a maf lean code once in a while but it turns itself off.

FYI, your local auto parts store should be able to get you the NGK BKRE7s for something like $1.29-$1.59 each... I just bought a whole box for less than a set from anywhere online.

2.8" w/ a stage 2 tune...

I also have the zex 1 step colder plugs and swear by them!

However, as of late I have been feeling a bit of hesitation above ~6200 rpms that I never felt before.

Obviously two diffrent OPINIONS, I agree with blue SS. I can spout off all kinds of #s pertaing to IDCs, A/f, etc. All I can say is I am running and have been running a 2.79 pretty much since I got my car home from the dealer with the stage 2. My car is FINE! And I will log on in a year and tell you how its running because, I am not changing it. I have a buddy that owns beyond redline and does dyno tuning all over the state! I know that the injectors are 100% fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GM stage 3 runs 50 shot of dry nitrous to 7000 RPMS with a 2.99 pulley and 42 lb injectors.

.2 inches is not going to lean the car out more than a 50 shot of nitrous.

This debate is weak.

Right. So when I dyno'd my car and the A/F skyrocketed at roughly 6200, its not leaning out? Before I let off, A/F was high 12's....

Wouldn't doubt them being different. I'm sure GM calibrated it some way that when it fires the nitrous it also dumps more fuel.

I think they did their homework with the Stage 3 PCM. Especially the nitrous part.
