About to upgrade clutch. Do I need a new flywheel?
Hey I'm about to purchase the Ecotec LSJ Clutch Upgrade Kit for my 07 cobalt Ss/Sc. Is it recommended to get a new flywheel? I am debating on doing this myself because the stealership wants 600$ to install it. Thank you for any input.

I may as well replace it with the 139$ one from crate engine. Supposedly the dealer that last worked on my transmission replaced my clutch which was in august and its slipping like it is an old clutch so I'm guessing it was never done and the invoice only says clutch doesn't even list part numbers so I may be better off spending the lil extra for peace of mind.

Well I doubt that since this isn't my first stick I drove a 94 accord manual for a couple years prior to owning this vehicle and have a ninja zx7r for 2 years now and use to port cars and work on them so if it was my driving I would have assumed that would have been the reason. This car is stock and has never been modded I just came across one of those dealerships that are scum and were tampering with my drive train, which I had evidence of and ended up winning me some g's.
Besides your post is more or less off topic because I didn't ask what would be some reasons why its slipping lol.

I would necessarily call it off topic but touche These clutches aren't very forgiving though.
You seem like a sensible man, wouldn't it be logical, since the transmission is already taken apart, and your already iffy about the flywheel in the first place just to replace it with a part that will last longer and hold up better?

Is there a section for our transmissions specifically? I am sorry if I broke the rules and posted in the wrong spot.
Robert you are correct I just questioned more or less the cost differences then had repetitious flashbacks of my father telling me in numerous instances to "do the job once and do it right" and snapped back to the reality of it all and decided to buy a new flywheel.
