Question Advice?

Okay Im deployed right now and Ive been buying parts for my cobalt so far ive got a 2.6 pulley, 60lb injectors, 2.5 DC exhaust, Injen coldair Intake, stage 3 ecu, Injector harness, S2 heatexchanger, and a twm shorthrow shifter. My question is what else should I get Im gonna have around 3,000 to play with before I get home on leave In april what else do I need to make all this work besides a tune my goal is at or above 300hp to the wheels Ive done a fair bit of research on the fourm but havent found anything fairly conclusive.

u should probably invest some of that cash... ur gunna throw ur stuff on ur car and still go HOLY ****! cus its a hell of a jump over stock. then the money u invested now will be worth more when u get bored of the performance of ur car and ull be able to afford more parts!. or just blow it on more cooling....

Get meth...with that 2.6, the heat exhchanger isnt going to be enough to cool the IAT2. Sure you can run it but you will heat soak bad and loose power. You got 3k to spend...hmm get the following (price for these parts are give or take estimate)

Devils Own Meth - $400
Header - $200
Downpipe $200
Custom Tune $300? Not sure on tuning prices, i got mine for free and then another guy tuned my tvs for a few hundred.
OTTP Stage 2 Tranny Mounts - $400
If you are going to race, Stage 2 axles are a good thing to have

This thread made me think. Do you need a tune when dropping pully sizes?

Such as a stage 2 pully to a stage 3?

if u want any gains out of it....yes. If you make a big drop...say from a 3.1" to a 2.6" and not change the tune...either A. you will run lean or B. you will run static because the injectors havent been changed.

Small changes such as a 2.8 to a 2.7 a tune will help abit but not required

There saying not to run 2.6 for 2 reasons. 1. you dont have enough cooling mods yet, the supercharger would be a damn hair dryer before it produces boost. And 2. people still make a fuss of which actualy produces more power. 2.6 or a 2.8. Now you would think a 2.6 would because its smaller and the smaller you go the more boost you make which gives you more power. However, going to small overspins the supercharger and you start to loose power. Whether this is true or not on a 2.6, i have no clue. I went straight from stock to 2.8 with nothing except 60lb injectors and a injen CAI. Never went smaller so iiunno.

Personally i say go with 2.8...but thats a bias opinion because its what i did and never tried anything else. Also im not sure what size u r running now but if u drop pulleys u will either need a bigger tensioner or a smaller belt.

with 2.6 you will need at bare minimum 60lb fuel injectors and a combo of cooling mods. I highly recommend going with this set up...

2.6
60lb injectors
heat exchanger
injen cold air intake
meth/water injection <---MAJOR THING TO HAVE
1 Step Colder Spark Plugs
And a custom tune

With those you will see a nice gain. Any money left over should go towards header, downpipe and exhaust. After that you will defently want to work on getting better traction.

Stage 3 ECM cannot be tuned. Stick with your stock ecm and get a custom tune

Are you still around KC? Or stationed elsewhere?

You can have Bryan tune it, if you are in KC. That will make some power.

Get a tune, Your going to need an PCM Re-flash to run it all.
Some tunes also require diffrent sparkplugs.
I'm tuned with INTENSE-Raceing. People have said its bad tunes, however
I have not had any problem with mine. Works great for me

it's possible, but with a goal like that you're setting yourself up for dissapointment. Without going with nitrous or bigger mods, I wouldn't expect more than 260-270 max on a generous dyno with a great tune.

Trifecta can tune GM Stage 3 PCMs these days.

A/C still doesn't work, and the nitrous mode hasn't been looked at due to lack of testing, but you can definitely utilize the user adjustable rev limit and high octane mode.

I've been bugging Vince to get that done for a while now. I think its just too deeply embedded in the OS to extract in any usable way. At that point it may actually be better to just get the A/C working instead.

I'm currently Trifecta tuned on my TVS 80mm pulley setup, and will be switching to the S3 OS as soon as Vince gets back from the land of coconuts and grass skirts. At that point, I hope to be his guinea pig for unlocking the A/C.

Shameless plea for support:

I know we have a lot of HP Tuned LSJs on this board, myself included when I switch PCMs, but it would be great if more LSJs got Trifecta tuned. I think an increase in support ($$$) could lead to really amazing things for us. (switchable tune, no lift shift, launch control, S3 HOM, S3 user rev limit, etc.). Lots of untapped potential there.
