AEM Cold Air Gains??

I have a 06 ss/sc with stage 2. No other mods. I just bought an AEM Cold Air intake and was wondering if anybody knew what kind of gains I would get out of that combo. I know the cold air intake is supposed to give me another 9hp, but that is based on a stock motor. Do I get more out of it with Stage 2?

I've also heard that the supercharger is a little ouder with one. Is it a huge difference like the difference between a stock balt and one equipped with stage 2 or is it just a small noticeable difference?

I have a K&N intake and my SC SCREAMS! Have you done the airbox mod yet?

You might get a little more outta it but not much.

an aftermarket filter....either on an opened airbox, or a CAI pipe, will make your car scream like a banshee.

you will LOVE it.
as for gains? probably nothing to noticable....but maybe 5-10hp
always helps to let your engine breath better.

I have the AEM and am very happy with it. little gain on the stock motor but I jsut got stage 2 in and it should help more with it.

The SC definitly screams with the filter. Sounds great with the windows down! even with the windows up actually......haha

Is there really much of a difference at all with a AEM vs a Injen?

From what I have researched, Injen has a 12 hp gain vs AEM's 9,8 hp gain. The major difference is in warranty related issues. Since Injen and K&N have oiled filters, the oil from those filters can and have gotten sucked inot the mass air flow sensor causing it to fail run the motor lean and in a few extreme cases cause a piston to burn or melt. Using an oiled filter gives GM a way out of warranty work, but I have yet to see any issues with AEM. I manage a collision center in Texas so I have a lot of experience with that end of it.

Ur absolutley right i just installed my AEM Cas and since their is no oil ur MAF is perfect. And the AEM really delivers the power espcially from 2500 to redline. The pull is noticable in 2nd thru 4.

I'm happy with my AEM even though it is expensive for what you get.

Airbox mod is cheaper, and has same effect as expensive CAI's.

I say just don't spray as much oil on your filter, spray farther away.. Keep your engine bay clean and blah blah is what I say... wasnt trying to be rude, I just like my K&N filters is all and have never had a problem..

Try not to steal the thread, but to help you out, your CAI shouldn't make you run lean. Either way it goes, the extra air pulled in through the CAI vs the stock filter will still be measured by the MAS and the ecu will determine the amount of fuel to correspond with the amount of air. That's the benefit to them. The ECU already has fuel maps for the A/F ratio and tries its best to stay within the pre-defined maps. You shouldn't experience any lean conditions with just a CAI.

what??

the air box mod is stupid. And weighs more than any aftermarket. Plus the reason u gained 5 was prolly because u just switched ur filters from stock 2 k/n 1000 something air filter series.

Well I got my AEM intake in yesterday and installed it after I closed down the shop. Took about 30 minutes. Pretty easy actually. It did more than I thought it would to be quite honest with you. I love the sound of the supercharger, that is awesome. I could not really feel a difference in horsepower, but could feel a little bit of a gain in terms of throttle response and torque. Well worth the money to me.

I HAD A KN CAI AND I SAW NO MORE FROM THAT THEN I DO WITH THE AIRBOX MOD THEY ALL DO THE SAME THING... SO I SOLD MY KN.. NO I DID NOT USE A KN FILTER EITHER.... THE GAINS WAS MUCH MORE THAN 5HP I MEANT TO SAY 9 HP WITH THE DROP IN FILTER......

I DONT SEE HOW THE AIRBOX MOD WEIGHS MORE .. I HAVE HAD BOTH SETUPS THE CAI AND THE AIRBOX MOD .... MY CAR LIKES THE AIRBOX MOD BETTER ..... THERE ARE PLENTY OFF OTHERS ON THIS SITE THAT WILL AGREE WITH ME

It takes about a week to get the total power out of it or less depending on how much you drive.
