AEM over AIRbox Mod
WTF...... IS there really going to be that much difference?
There is so many threads with people saying different things I don't know what to believe.
I thought there was a thread describing all the different CAI's, but after searching a bunch of ways and trying to weed out all the BS threads. I figured This may be the only way.
CTCOBALTSSS will prolly find the thread for me, but whatever.
I want the most "stock" look under the hood. I want it to look sleeper. so i figure the AEM will be the best. And I figre the Injen Black would be ok too, but I can't stand the revised one with the huge dent.

Do the airbox mod. I have the AEM and I paid $170 US for a 6 inch peice of plastic pipe, 2 allen bolts, a washer and a filter. Ask Victory_Red_SS, I showed him what the AEM is all about and how much it was and he agreed it is a ripoff for what you get.
Same results with the mod.

I already have the airbox mod. I have a K&N Clamped on the end, but have the box still on, without any bottom cover or lid.
Should I take the Box Off all together. If I did, i would want to ge the drycharge cover or whatever it's called.

I bought an AEM dry flow, drilled a hole in the airbox in order to tighten the clamp, and just left the bottom of the airbox off. I get a nice loud SC whine and noticeable gains in acceleration. I want to go thru a winter season and make sure I don't have any water issues before doing the complete airbox mod.

Do the "free" mod. The only "restriction" which isnt much is right were the tube goes on the throttle body other than that there is no other accordin in the tube.
Its not worth 180 for a aftermarket at all in my opinion.

OMG! You guys are such whiners! Here is a "how-to" on getting maximum performance while maintaining your stock "sleeper" look.
1. Remove driver-side headlight.
2. Unclamp stock airbox and remove two bolts attaching it to the frame.
3. Remove screws from the bottom of the airbox releasing the bottom piece. Remove the filter. (Store in a location for safe keeping.)
4. Use dremel tool or jigsaw to remove 95% of the stock airbox. (Ensure the pieces holding the box to the frame are still in-tact.)
5. Install AEM Dryflow filter in remaing box. (No CELs, Location is free from water, No Problems!)
6. Bolt airbox back on and re-attach hose clamp.
7. Re-install headlight
8. Go for a test drive and listen to your baby SCREAM!!! (Sounds much louder with pulley..hehe)
Gains- 8-9 HP 7-8 TQ
Enjoy!
