ahhh, another dumb question

hey there guys, im pretty sure i have a dumb question again, but now that ive practiced and learned how to launch the car better, i find something odd happening

if i take the car almost all the way to redline in first, basically WOT without hopping, sometimes when i get in 2nd, for a couple seconds, the car makes a noise kind of like tires spinning on wet pavement, im not sure if im just hitting water and they are spinning for a bit in second, or if its my clutch slipping....

the car doesnt rev up and not go anywhere, but i cant tell if its slippage or spinnage.

so basically, how can i tell if my clutch is slipping???
what should it feel like???

i searched and already read badmunkys post about it

but im still clueless

HELP

thanks again,
kevin.

Sounds like spinning to me. I spin in second gear also. Do you have a Cobalt SS/SC?

do it with your window down.....if you cant hear your tires losing traction, but the engine SOUNDS like they are.....then its your clutch having trouble engaging.

one of the prime causes of clutch slipping in these cars is not truely getting to the top speed in first gear due to tire spin. if you are not at redline in 1st with FULL traction, then when you shift to second hard, and WOT it, your clutch will have problems.

this can be fixed through driver correction.

If you are modded to above 250whp you may have issues with clutch slip even if you do shift 1st to 2nd properly.

thats my experience anyway.

Nhcobalt, you are spinning for sure, the base balt has alot smaller tires(wide and height and agressiveness). Spinning in 2nd with a SS/SC on wet road is prob the problem. CLutch slippage would happend all the time, and it would make a weird noise. If you are under 275WHP and dont ride the clutch, I wouldnt worry about it.
