Air intakes

Hey everyone, I'm about to start modifying my 2005 Cobalt SS/SC and one of the first mods I have in mind is a short ram intake. What brand of intake is the best to go with? Also, what's a good website to purchase modifications from? What are some other good modifications that will add some oomf to my 'balt?

Nobody makes a short ram intake for the LSJ. Plenty of companies make cold air intakes. As for other mods, just read some of the stickies to get some idea of what can/should be done.

Intake is a good starting places. Watch out if you go K&N Typhoon, mine was rubbing my brake lines so I siwtched it to ZZP.

As far as things beyond an intake...

The air box mod has been proven to flow just as much air as most aftermarket intakes. An aftermarket intake mainly allows the supercharger whine to be amplified and louder. You don't want a short ram intake, hot engine bay air is not going to help your performance. The stock intake is already pulling cool air from the fender well. Get a K&N drop in air filter!

don't the LSJ's have a cone type filter with a plastic splash guard from the factory? therefore airbox mod nor drop in filter is non existent?

ahh well that's dumb. intake. well for op, search button works wonders. but the only way to get anymore noticeable power out of your car is to drop pulley sizes. but that of course requires bigger injectors and a tune. cold air intake would help keep your IAT's lower

the short ram intake actually just connects to the end of the intake tube and literally just replaces the box...

I'd say keep stock with a K&N drop in and modify the box.
Stock intake is two pieces, which makes it really easy to clean the TB when it gets dirty, which is a lot.
