Airbox Mod Vs. Injen CAI

Is it worth it for me to upgrade to the Injen for performance?

For me it was worth it as well. People claim that powerwise they are the same if you have a good filter for the air box. I'd go with injen.

Yeah...the stock intake piping to the filter itself is not restrictive at all. The problem is the Donaldson style airbox - get rid of that and you are golden.

The stock Airbox is a "Donaldson" airbox - and is very effective at muting intake noise. When you remove / modify the stock airbox, you get rid of the biggest restriction in the intake system. Also, you allow the noise to escape - WIN-WIN situation

personally i love my injen. 3 reasons. 1.) gas mileage improved about 3-4 mpg; sittin at around 35 mpg right now 2.) the SC whine is sexy 3.) there is an hp boost, maybe 5-7 hp, i noticed a difference.

i figure the amount of money i've saved on fuel because of this cai has paid itself off long ago.

So are you saying that the part where the filter goes is the donaldson part? And if so what's the best way to modify it for best sound? I have removed the bottom "cover" if you will and cut just a little off the side. Any pixs would help

Just search "Airbox Mod" - there are LOTS of pictures. You basically use a 3.25inch clamp on filter and hack most of the airbox off except where it mounts - essentially turning it into an open-element CAI. It makes the supercharger whine alot louder too.

I already did the airbox mod I just didn't know what all I should do to the part where the filter is. Like I said I cut some of the side part off and removed the bottom cover

YOu can cut as much of the side off as you want. But in your case: Mission Accomplished.

I did the mod a bit different. I drilled a TON of holes in the airbox as well as the bottom (I did them in a pattern so it looks good). I can use stock type filters without worrying about the clamps failing and all that jazz as the bottom of the airbox still intact.
