Almost seized the motor!
Ok so I'm driving home from getting tuned, I get home and pop the hood to look at the header and I notice the engine compartment is FULL of oil! I'm thinkin I blew the motor or something! To my shock... THE ******* DIPSTICK POPPED OUT!!! WTF GM CAN"T YOU DESIGN A CAR TO KEEP ITS DIPSTICK IN!!!???!!!?? I don't know how much oil came out, but I'm sure if I had driven the car much further the motor would have seized

mine did that once a few months ago... but I think it was more due to wheel hop, since it hasn't happened again.... two guys around here had that happen last week and ended up having holes in the pistons in cyl #4...

It somtimes means you are pressurizing the Crank case with boost
This is usually blow by ...boost going passed the rings
If t was me i would do a leak down test just to be sure.

that is bullshit, if something like that happens to me and screws up my motor id make sure gm fixed it and some... if they wouldnt id take pics and post it everywhere... newspapers, internet, flyers etc. hahaha
just remember :
#1 are pcv system can only handle so much boost stock (even says in the build book)
#2 YOUR CAR IS MODIFIED BEYOND STOCK LEVELS.. car is not meant for that not covered by gm
#3 running this type of power with no monitoring device I/e wideband/aeroforce is deadly for your motor.

it sounds like gm couldnt keep in in the whole
jk
but in all seriousness that sucks i think they need to do a recall on all the cobalt ss/sc's on there wheel hope, clutch slipping, dipsticks, trannies, superchargers and what ever else. and put us all in the new cameros when they come out. its nice to dream isnt it. or atleast give us our money back so we can get a different car.

Anyone with the build book know what boost level is considered unsafe with the stock setup? Also, whenever any of you vets put a catch can on, might not be a bad idea to make it a how-to for everyone else. Take the questions out of the equation, if you know what I mean.

If I had a catch can myself I would have taken pictures, but I don't and my car is thousands of miles away.

There were drops of oil on my valve cover. I though I blew the motor and then come to find out the freaking dipstick poped out. It hasn't happened since. I just don't get it.
