aluminized vs stainless steel.

so looking to get a new exhaust. i know stainless steel will last longer. is that the only advantage? it it 100 more for ss the aluminized. how long will aluminized last on average? wont be driving it in the winter.

Aluminized is what most manufactures use as OEM exhaust material.. Basically longevity is the only advantage of stainless steel..

So.. Idk 5-10 years? Depending on conditions of course

thats what i was thinking too. i am thinking of getying the magnaflow system from mandrelexhaustsystems.com.

255 for the aluminized system then 80 for the 18 inch resonator. so with shipping it will be 370 shipped. not too bad of a deal.

Do not waste your time/money with aluminized steel. Stainless is the only way to go.

Our cars come from the factory with stainless exhaust systems. More than likely the cheaper 409 grade stainless steel, but hey it's still stainless steel

Depends on where you live but I would do the SS just for peace of mind. Let's put it this way...I had an aluminized setup on my old ranger pickup...within a year of putting it on..things were rusting and falling off. I had to replace the muffler and the pipe between it and the cat because they had rusted apart. Granted that exhaust had to endure a typical Ohio winter with endless amounts of snow and salt...but still...I would do SS just to ensure that nothing could go wrong down the line...I mean shoot it's only 100 bucks more s why wouldn't you?

If you live near the ocean or in an area where it snows and salt is used then get stainless, if you are not keeping the car more than 5 years go with the aluminized.

SS, why cheap out now and have to buy another exhaust in a year. Do it right the first time or dont do it.

That and why are you adding a ressonator. Your going with mandrel bent exhaust systems correct?. If so the thier Borla exhaust sounds awesome without a resonator.

Their exhaust systems are known not to fit very well.
