(Another) Heat Exchanger Question

Hi guys,

I know this is another lame HE question for everyone, but I haven't been succesful in sorting through all the search result crap to find my answer.

I have 3 HE's in my possession at the moment.

I will be running a 2.8" + 60lbs while cooling with w/ dual pass + hatrickstu/option B set up.

The stock LSJ one, a gen 4 OTTP (I think? It has drain plug and dimensions match on OTTP site), and a Cobra HE.

My question is, which combination of HE's will yield the best results. I know the Griffin is amazing, but I am curious to know about these HE's.

Should I set up all 3? (or is that too much for the system to handle?)
The OTTP + stock?
Cobra + stock?
OTTP + Cobra?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If there is a thread relating this, a link would be amazing!! Thanks!

I run the OTTP "gen 4" inline with the production heat exchanger (no dual pass), and my IAT2's are excellent.

Cruising IAT2's are around 15-18*F above IAT1 on a warm day

WOT IAT2's go no higher than 135-140*F on a warm day.

We really can't compare IAT2's, because so many things can alter our results (climate, location, modifications, etc.). I just thought I would list my results.

The OTTP gen 4 or ZZP S3 are both great heat exchangers, and should def get the job done.

Do not setup all 3 though, stacking mulitiple heat exchangers in front of one another is not an efficent cooling method. Use an aftermarket heat exchanger inline with the stock unit, or get rid of it all and use the Griffin.

Ya I realize that about the IAT2s. Right now I'm cruising at most 30F above ambient, and that's on a very hot & muggy day (all stock).

I figured stacking them would not improve anything. Thanks for the help Staged.

My other question would be, run the cobra and the Ottp, and ditch stock? (from hearsay alone, I've heard running OTTP without stock is slight improvement.)

ZZP claims running an aftermarket heat exchanger inline with the stock one is best. Although, in theory ditching the stock one would lower temps a bit, because it would prevent the coolant from getting heated by the radiator. Test it out. If it doesnt work you can always reinstall it

I say if you have all this, I would just experiment, in the end you will know which is better and have some nice data to share for others.

This, and maybe even buy a couple other heat exchangers and just test all combinations?
