Another next mod topic

Sorry to create another one of these kind of topics, but as I'll be saving up $ over winter, I'm having troulbe deciding what to do next. Seeing as I have some time to work with, I thought I'd ask you guys

Here is my current set up:

Injen cold air intake
Borla Cat-back exhaust
GMPP Stage II
2.8" pulley
1 step colder plugs
Poly CABs, INTENSE transaxle mounts

I was considering the CA HE, but I'm not sure how efficient this would be at this point. What's the best bang for the buck? Oh and no NOS for now. Let me know what you guys think, thanks for the help!

well, i'm thinking that you may be best off with something like that interceptor gauge or something like that... just for an idea.
if you watched your intake temp before and after the HE, you'll have an idea of how useful it would be. up in upper NY, you may not need it at all.

As I'd have to have someone install those, that sounds ****ing expensive. Can you give me an idea of the gains? You think it'd be worth it at this point?

Ha, agreed on coldness in upstate NY. It is pretty hot during summer though. I'll do some more research, thanks for the help guys!

I'd like to go, but I'm running a CEL with the 2.8. I'm kinda worried about it, I might just put her up for the winter and wait until I get a tune in the spring...

Agreed on needing the driver mod btw.

What kind of performance do you want before you decide what to buy. Do you want your car to just be faster, handle better, or be reliably faster. If you want just faster then get the header and downpipe...great gains from those. If you want handling then look at springs or coils or swaybars/STB. Reliably faster....start thinking about clutch, new axles, trans mounts, traction bars and those kinds of things. Saving for a tune wouldnt be a bad idea. We dont know what you want your finished product to be, so if you help us out by telling us what you want in the end, we can help you with what to get and the order to get it in.

Reliably faster would be good.

My cluth is fine as it is now, but I'll probably replace it anyway when it starts to slip.

Aren't our axels good for a good amount of hp? I'll probably consider new axels later down the road.

I think I'm good on traction mods for the moment, but may investigate more later.

CA header/downpipe looks like the best bet. And definitely a tune when it's on.

So I should be good as far as cooling mods with the 2.8? That SC gets hotter than ****, and I drive like a son-of-a-gun at all times. RPMs only drop below 5K at stop lights and when parked. Hopefully I'll be good with the stock stuff.

Thanks again for the help guys.

well judging by what you said, your clutch and axles wont be good for long. Ask others who have gone through it...replace them before it happens because if it does happen, youre going to be without your car for a while longer than expected. Your car wont be reliably fast if you have weak components that actually put the power on the ground. Many regard clutch and axles as the first mod that should be done...that way power can be safely added without unexpected periods of down time due to ordering parts, installation time, and the costs of ordering and installation. Your parts may be good for now, but as long as you continue to add "go-faster" parts, theyre going to start to deteriorate.

I think you are overdue for a new clutch and axels. Don't wait until they break to get new ones. You really can't put reliable in the same sentence with the mods you have without a clutch. One night at the track and you are going to be sorry. Other then that how about some instrumentation to monitor everything? A wideband and/or interceptor would be nice. Then maybe it's time for some suspension work. You have done all the "bang for your buck" mods, now it's time to support them.
