Another TVS thread

Well, I can't say where this is, and I can't say who it is, or who told me. BUT, someone has already reached the limits of the TVS without meth injection.

360whp and 297wtq. on the 2.75" pulley. Timing was at about 16 degrees and AFR in the high 11's. With 2 h/e's and dual pass with opt. B, the intake temps got up to about 180 degrees. This is also with a built head. Onlything stock in the head is the cams. But the head is ported out, bates oversized valves and springs. He is also revving to 8000rpms. He has the I/H/E stuff as well.

Now, although the power level is not quite what a lot of us thought it to be, I'm not really too discouraged. This is about the power level of where I want. If I want to go any faster, I'll spray it. But 350hp and 300tq is plenty enough power for me. I'll bet with some meth injection, the numbers would be a little better also.

So thoughts?? Opinions?? Flaming??

Just to add to this, the guy that tuned him has a stock engine, but I/H/E with 2.8 pulley, dual pass opt. B, meth injection, tuning, and a 75 shot and still got beat by the TVS car. He said he hung right behind him till about 75mph and then the TVS car just pulled away like crazy. Pretty cool.

you tell me. any lower of a pulley and the engine would have destroyed itself. Heat was getting up there!

Those numbers look good to me. I'd like to get a TVS charger but I don't have $2500 for one.

With that blower would I have to swap internals or no? I wouldn't be running a 2.75, I would probably stay with a 2.9 on it. Any ideas?

That seems pretty crappy for a 2500 blower!

Like I said, it's more than enough power and I think the money for it is well worth it.

obviously with meth he'd be able to make better numbers and probably even go with a tad smaller pulley. BUT, those temps are getting pretty scary without meth. I'd say he's at the limit.

this is a true statement. But I'd be perfectly fine with the tvs. I don't need a rediculously built 10 sec cobalt. I'm sure with slicks, you could get high 11's with the tvs. Which is what I want and WILL achieve.

ok, yes a turbo is more efficient......but how do you say they are more reliable??
A turbo has alot more required to maintain and keep up......Not to mention converting the car from blower to snail requires a bit more knowledge then upgrading a blower....

Different strokes.....but let's not turn this into another turbo vs. charger thread

Oh, Im not going that way! believe me I'm all for the TVS's... but if they are only able to produce 350/300 a small quick spoolin' snail will get that!

obviously there are going to be other options that will make more power. But if a straight blower swap is what you want and plenty of power, then this is a very good solution.

I wouldn't say it was maxed out. I'm sure someone will toss a 2.5 or lower ring on it. Meth will definitely make it possible. Plus cams, 400whp will most likely be seen with this blower, probably on Witt's car.

true, but i'd say it's maxed with a 2.75 without meth. With meth, you could squeeze out a bit more. 400 sounds about right with meth and a 2.5 or something like that. Remember, this guy was on a built head also. I doubt MOST people will even see numbers this high.

Is it using the stock cam profile? I've always been under the impression that you'd need a different set of cams to make use of 8k rpms.

Also does the dyno that was used typically give over or under rated numbers?

thanks
