another TWM sts question

another TWM sts question
is there a way to take off the reverse lockout so that i can put a different shift knob on? I really disagree with paying 75 dollars for one of TWM's shifters. i have a particular one in mind for 75 but its not the same as what they offer for the reverse lockout.
Any input?
