Any News On a GM 2.0 CAI

Does anyone think they will come out with a GM intake for the 2.0's Or is there any news of one coming out soon?

No. What would be the point if the stock airbox already goes into the same location?

Best bet would be to either get the AEM or do the airbox mod.

One word... airbox mod. The dealership will never know... and if you need to you can pop the bottom and your stock filter back on.

But if i do any of those then i risk getting bs'd on my warranty. i know if something goes wrong they have to prove it was that part that did it but they have their ways of bullshitting you and refusing the fix the problem

you won't have any problems with the airbox mod...

Shees why does everyone act like their car is gonna blow up if they mod? You bought a tuner car... now grab your tools and get out there and tune.

Seriously... read the thread called "airbox modification" and you'll see what I mean. If anything goes wrong at all... it takes like 5 mins to put the stock filter back on and seal her back up again... then you take it to the dealer with the stock airbox on there and say "I don't know what happened, the car is stock"

Perhaps I also need to mention that I haven't had my car in the dealership for a single performance related problem... ever.

Alignment... yeah... body work (got rear ended) yeah... but never a single powertrane related problem.

These cars are pretty stout when it comes to the basic stuff.

People start messing things up when they go to 60lb injectors and 2.7 or smaller pullies.

i wouldnt waste my time on a air box mod if anything i would get the intake i want and throw the stock one back on when i take it to the dealer. im not worried about the Part ruining the car things do go when you beat the car all the time and put more strain on the engine when you mod but i just dont want to have to deal with anything i want to put it on and if something happens i wont have to worry about anything or take it off if i had a GM intake i wouldnt have that problem

Well... GM dosen't make one... and never will. These cars are going to be out of production in a nother year... so don't expect to see any more parts hit the market from GM.

So I guess you are just **** out of luck.

Not if you took it back off when you brought it in.

I was merely pointing out that it would be easier to put the airbox mod back to stock than have to uninstall an entire CAI.

Plus many of the CAI's for the SS/SC either have fitment issues (Injen & Fujuta) or throw codes (K&N). So your choices are limited.

nope... you're looking at the wrong one

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...x+modification

this one is the correct method... leaves the stock airbox completely in-tact... just removes the bottom which screws off.

Do the airbox mod. It will perform almost as well as an intake and will be easier to bring back to stock. If you're really worried about the filter get an AEM dryflow.

I did the airbox mod in 2 hours... and that was taking my time... you could probably do it in one.

Oh... and on the AEM intake... good idea there Red... except the AEM intake is just a little metal elbow that you can't even see from under the hood... all it does is replace the airbox. I honestly couldn't justify the $150 or so to even get it.

If you've got a jack and some stands and can get under the car the mod is a piece of cake.
