Anyone bleeding both the Heat exchanger and Lamanova Manifold?
It's easy enough to do and I can see the benefits of doing both. I don't see a downside of doing both. Both will have the .040 orifice. I'll need to make a Y connector going into the reservoir.
I can see that working but I just use a air powered coolant vacuum bleeder for everything. Its a great investment for bleeding just about anything as long as you have the adapters
I have the bleeder on the IM and use the bleeder port on the top of the heat exchanger for the initial bleeding of air after draining the system but I just put the plug back in the heat exchanger once I have it bled. Air doesn't seem to find it's way back into the system once you have it out that I have experienced. I'm also not using an .040" orifice on my IM it's just a 1/4" NPT fitting. I do have a slight bit of fluid that flows through the orifice and back up into the tank but I figure it isn't hurting anything and will help keep all the fluid mixed/circulating.

not running the restrictor actually reduces the cooling. the bleed line is a path of least resistance, the coolant would rather flow through it back to the tank than go through the heat exchanger, so coolant flow is reduced.
a while back i read about someone who did the dual pass/option b and was having high iat2 temps afterwards, the end result was they didnt put in a restrictor. after they installed the restrictor the iat2 temps dropped way down.

It's not much flow that comes up through the bleeder tank port. It would really only be significantly detrimental to cooling if the tank was either already heat soaked or if the flow was significant. I'll do a before and after and kink off that line and see if it makes measurable or significant difference. It very well could. I could just be drastically overestimating the amount of flow through the cores in the first place. I will report back.
Here is the photo of how I have it setup now. On the way to work, at 70mph cruise down the highway, I had a 20F temperature difference between IAT2 and ambient which is the same as before. I will keep it this way for a long time and observe temperatures under WOT as well as in heat soak conditions.
