I felt more power. Now getting to 15 lbs is faster going all the way to 17-18 lbs. when before 15 seemed to be a little more difficult to get to.

A good hp tune would not hurt with the 2.8, i want to get the 60lbers, but have heard with hp tuners the 60s are a real bitch to tune and deal with.

I drove stage 2 for a wile and then went to 2.8. There is def a different. I would have to agree with everyone else that TQ is higher and not much HP but with out a dyno I can only speculate. Also with the tuning I am still running just the stage 2 with 2.8 and have some issues when i hit high boost. I get a p103 code. The stage 2 MAF max signal is set to 10000 and with the 2.8 you need it to be 11000. I got this info form one of the threads about the p103 code.

The typical gain for boost is about 5-7 HP and 8-10 TQ per psi. Going to the 2.8 pulley should in theory gain 7-10 HP and about 12-16 TQ. To see the most out of the pulley switch you would definately have to get a tune though.

Denny is runnign a 2.6 on 42lb no problem. You wont feel a difference like when you baught your stage kit, but for the money, I would do it.

A friend told me that the 60lbers would burn something out in the motor and another part had to be replaced. I can't remember what. This guy usually doesn't know what he's talking about makes stuff up so I don't know how reliable it is. Since we're on the topic anyone with some knowledge feel free to chime in.

ok so to stay with the post the 2.8 whines MUCH louder but in the low rpms you can not really feel much of a difference but top end OMFG. It pulls so hard through the top of 3rd and right into fourth.
and with a tune they change your air to fuel ratio timing and some other figures that will make your car run properly.

Other than the tune does anything else have to be changed out to run the 2.8 pulley and 60lb injectors?

Yes, you can run the car normally. I have been running like this for a month or so and no problems except the p103 code I described before. I just reset the code and the car runs grate. Even with the code the car still runs fine it will just hesitate during shifts a little. No real problem. Just keep it below the 6500 and you will not get a code. When you get a tune then every thing will be fine. Also you should run colder plugs and the highest octane gas you can get.

Thats exactly what I plan on doing...

You used the 42 injectors that came with the GM stage II kit right? Would it be beneficial to swap those for 60's with the 2.8 pully? Would a GM installer know the difference if you swapped the 42's for 60's?

i had stage 2 for 2 months or so until i switched to the 2.8 about a week ago. the day i put it on and the next few days after it was like 90-100 degrees outside so i didnt see as much as i thought but i definitely felt a difference. nothing too drastic tho. i havent had a chance to really try it out lately but the day after i put it on (around 90-95 degrees out) i hooked the tech 2 up to it at work and went for a run a with another tech up through 3rd gear and he didnt see any issues with knock or the injector pulse being too high. the only thing he noticed was the a/f ratio dippin down to 10.9:1 at the top of second and third im not sure if thats TOO low but it seems a little too much on the rich side to me.

I have been speaking with Todd from Intense and they recommend the following with the 2.8" upgrade: Stage 4/5 intense PCM upgrade, 60lb/hr injectors, and cooler spark plugs.

I didnt think that it would be such a pain in the a@# to just upgrade to the 2.8, but I guess it is. They said they were going to charge a $200 core charge until they recieved the PCM back. I hate those freakin charges...

so lets see thats:

pulley: 100
pulley tool kit: 100
spark plugs: 10+
fuel injectors and PCM: 200
core charge: 200
fuel rail for 60 lb/hr: 50

thats $660+ just to upgrade to a 2.8" pulley.... Seems a bit pricey

How much of a noticable gain is there if you switch to a 2.8 pully?

Of course intense is going to reccomend thier product with a 2.8 pully for the business. But their products aren't warrentied.

You need to retune your car whan you make the switch right? Did you install the pully yourself?

No need to re tune when switching. Lots of us are running this setup. Although even though an HPTune will make it that much better, it is not neccessary.
