so u guys are disapointed? keep in mind gm allready underated the vehicle what makes u think they didnt underate these packages? remember insurance rates are high if gm sayed stage 2 is 280hp then imagin insurance rates for the stage 2 upgrade. also do u think mopar's upgrades are much better for the srt-4? stage 1 mopar (comes w/ the car now) gives the car "230hp" from the 215. stage 2 i believe is 250hp, and stage 3 is somewhere in the range of 300+hp, so gm is on track and remember this will give ya insta tq no lag, and i would imagin that 245hp is gonna be really underated and really bbeing arorund 250whp-260whp. so thats definatly putting it in the 13's. add intake, exhaust and header and you'll be pushin closer to that 280whp mark if not more. hell P&P the s/c, larger t/b. and possibilities are even greater.
so imo these upgrades arent bad at all.

I'm super excited about these stages... the only rumor that has me on edge is if it will be under warrenty still .... cause i remember dodge saying stage 1 and 2 would be under warrenty for the srt-4, but then when they came out... that was shot down.

When Jonel and I talked to the GM reps at the Small Car Bash they said maintaining the warrenty was a very important part of the staged upgrades for the SS/SC and that you would be able to drive the engine just as hard as stock and not have to worry about problems.
I am 99% sure they will keep the warrenty on the staged upgrades, hence the modest gains.

stop saying this isnt alot of power! you can now offically beat a STI from a roll
with a intake header and full exhaust you can beat them by even more (they dyno at 250 awhp) this is great but im gonna get the PSI FI kit and just get the reflashes when they come out

i own a set of 39 pound cobra injectors , and they look nothing like the ecotec injectors , they are skinny injectors like the 03-05 eco injectors and the 99-02 2.4 tc injectors
the 2.0 s.c injectors are 370cc injectors , from what i remember and are fat injectors , simialr to the 98-older injectors in looks
and keeping in mind the 205 hp is pretty much wheel hp , 242 whp would be closer to the 272 mark , sound kinda fimilar ?? the SS272 hmmmm
couple GM's upgrades , with intake , and header back exhaust , and your at or over the 300 mark
all with out going inside the motor , seams to make sense to me

Also, unless youre talking about just the inlet of the SC (which i dont have the specs of to compare with the TB) you will not gain from porting the SC. Infact, there is no where to port on the outlet. That rounded off triangle is there for a reason. Thats the most efficient configuration for a roots style blower outlet. If you open up the triangle too big, you will lose efficiency and thus HP. The m62 used on the SS looks very much like the Gen V m90 on the 04+ GTPs. Eaton has said that the GEN V m90 will only gain 5% more efficiency if ported in certain places extensivly.

hey guys, im new to the site and i just wanna say this site is awesome. Anyways, with all this talk about the added horsepower... do you think the stock transmission will hold up? i mean i konw they will for the GM upgrades, but if some people apply their H/I/E, would the transmission be able to handle it all?

Actually stage 1 doesn't come with the 04 and 05 srts. The fuel injectors from the stage 1 kit come with the car stock...Since the stage 1 injectors come with the car...the stage 1 kit doesn't add much at all for the 04~05 srt's.
for the record the staged upgrades for the srt are...
Stage 1 (PCM reflash) 240hp 260tq -- $399
Stage 2 (Stage 2 PCM, 682cc/min injectors,wastegate,tip sensor,'turbo toys') 265hp 280tq (280hp 300tq in HOM) -- $1599 or just $1000 w/o 'turbo toys'.
Stage 3 (turbo upgrade kit,75 Psi Fuel pump,Stage 3 Pcm) 310hp 325tq (355hp 365tq in HOM) -- $4199 for whole kit...$3000 for stage 2 upgrade.
of course those prices are from mopar...you can get them from other dealers for a few hundred cheaper.
I'm wondering if GM will have something like HOM (high octane mode..100+) for the SS/SC, it'd be a nice feature.

how does that work on the srt, is it just a flip switch chip or does the ecu actually have two programs in it?

Dial-A-Boost Switch- Fill the tank with 100 (R+M)/2 octane unleaded fuel, press the red switch located on the Turbo Toys bezel, and discover instant torque and power gains. The PCM will increase spark advance and adjust fueling to take full advantage of the 100 octane unleaded fuel. The red indicator lamp will illuminate when High Octane Mode is active.
During High Octane Mode operation, the PCM prevents damaging detonation via the OEM knock detection system. High Octane Mode will be bypassed if damaging knock is detected. The red indicator lamp will blink when High Octane Mode is bypassed. Spark advance and fueling are returned to standard levels in bypass mode. The blinking indicator light can be turned off by pressing the red High Octane Mode switch. Entering bypass mode is an indication that higher octane fuel is required.
