backlash in drivetrain
backlash in drivetrain
it feels like my engine and/or transmission mounts are shot. when decelerating, i press the throttle, and it seems like there is a lot of slack in the drivetrain when it slams into gear. Is it just the transmission in this car or the diff? is this a problem, or are they all like this? I feel like some stiffer engine mounts could help the problem. It makes first gear a nightmare in this car since it is such a low gear to begin with. the car ends up jerking back and forth sometimes in first if i feather the throttle just the right way.
i have the same problem right now, i thought it was my tranny or broken axle but it turned out to be my left side control arm bushings and the rear motor mount.
the way you described it sounds just like my problem. they say that the lsj mounts are crap and i have a 05 so its about time to change them out. so far i have the ottp stage 1 rotated tranny monut and thats it. for the rear engin mount im using a lnf one, its cheaper and mighty stiff. as for the control arm bushings.......im going to use and get gm to warranty it but kno'n them they will try and void it because its turbo swapped lol ill argue them into doing it anyway

hmm never thought of the control arm bushings. the car only has 43k on it, but it sounds feasible. ive been getting a knocking noise from my suspension, and thats probably where its coming from.
I have similar lash it is most likely all crappy CAB. I say most likely because until I replace them I won't know for sure. I am amazed how fast the bushings go bad on this car. My last car took 140K before the bushings felt as bad as my SS does at 50K.
i had 53k on my stock mounts. it feels like a whole new car after the mounts. dont even think twice about not doing this. it literally takes like 30 minutes to swap out both of them. just make sure to remove the bracket connected to the trans for the rear one or the downpipe gets in the way of the bolt that goes through the mount.
