Best and quietest 3" mufflers

Ok everyone I'm trying to find a good quiet 3" offset inlet 3" center outlet muffler for my slobalt. I think I'm getting old because i cannot take my loud exhaust anymore lol. At this point this is my current setup and its way to loud for a daily driver. ottp stainless long tube, sce copper header gasket, dynatech spun metal cat, full mandrel 3" catback with a magnaflow stainless resonator, magaflow stainless 3" muffler and a 3.5" stainless tip. This exhaust performs perfect all except the noise level. I'm trying to find out what some other people running as far as mufflers on these cars. I will also add that I'm trying to stay away from any muffler that sounds like a Honda tin can exhaust. Any input would be great.

Magnaflow XL muffler used as a resonator. Works perfect, use a 4" round straight through and get it as long as possible like 32" looks like a missle.

I have been through so many mufflers now it's crazy. I used to have full 3" piping, started off with a ZZP whisper resonator and magnaflow muffler. After 5 months, the ZZP resonator burned out all it's packing and the welds cracked causing some awful leaks. Near the same time, the magnaflow muffler also became hollow due to packing burning out. Threw both of these into the trash.

Next setup, bought a new magnaflow muffler and a huge resonator (did look like a missile). After 6 months, both of these hollowed out as well. Threw them into the trash. Sounded good at first though.

Next setup, bought a HUGE dynomax superturbo muffler and a glasspack style 36" resonator. Sounded nice and quiet at first, then one of the baffles in the muffler decided to **** itself and blow out. Literally chunks of metal (the guides) from the inside started coming out and lodging themselves in the tip. My exhaust guy said he had never seen a muffler like this fail before. Into the garbage it went.

Decided to switch to a 2.5" setup, glasspack style 24" resonator and a flowmaster super40 muffler. Still currently on the car, been on there for about a year now. The muffler is beginning to sound like crap now and get louder, assuming it is wearing out as well.

Good luck trying to find a quiet setup, I hear good things about Stainless Works but they are quite pricey. Trying to decide between them and a few other brands right now.

Do you run leaded race gas or nitrous? Doesn't make sense that you keep chewing through exhaust parts so quick if you aren't. Vibrant stealth power is a very good muffler for cheap and is very deep and quiet.

Shell 93 100% of the time.

My guess is that LSJs have a very high exhaust velocity and very high EGTs. A few other people in my area have had similar issues chewing through mufflers and resonators.

You are also turbo so it's gonna sound different on a supercharged setup, unless you ran that with your supercharger and it sounded good?

Your right. Forgot he was supercharged. As a matter of fact, i got this muffler/exhaust combo in exchange of my stock lsj exhaust because he didn't like how it sounded after he went back to supercharged

What egt's are you seeing? On my lnf after a 3rd gear pull I around 1450f. Your getting hotter than that.

I do not have a way to measure EGT right now, but other LSJs with similar mods as me see 1400-1700F after a long pull. Or another thought, maybe exhaust parts just hate me

We have new resonators and mufflers. They flow as straight through and are vasty quieter than anything similar. Only had them a few months.

People who run the res and the muffler normally complain it's too quiet. One or the other will do you justice.

Do you build them in house? How thick is the sheet metal?

What if you ran two mufflers? Like a oval in the mid pipe and a round body out back?

There's barely enough room for a resonator and muffler, I don't see how you could cram in another.

This ^^^. I've had their new resonator on for a couple months now and I love it. It's a quality piece and made a night and day difference.

Haha thanks. Are you the one who asked if I was catted or catless? At the time I had a high flow cat. I bashed out the cat a little while back because it was getting clogged and surprisingly enough it only made my car a little bit louder. Still no rasp. The only thing saving my ass is ZZPs resonator, no question.
