Best upgrades to do first?

I'm about to get my first check from my summer job so it's time to put some work into the Cobalt.

What upgrades should I do first?

CAI
Header/DP combo
Short Throw
GMS2

Throw gms2 off the list. It's a waste of money. You should look at ZZP for the stage 2 setup.

man i haven't come across someone with a bone stock car in forever.

heres how to answer your question.\

what do you want the car to do?? do you want to take it to the drag strip every weekend? in that case i would start with coilovers, drag bags, get 15" wheels and a true slick. also get a clutch. if you want to stay on a budget the gmpp upgrade is great for the money. i guarantee you can hit 13's like that without any other mods. then get a heat exchanger, intake, full exhaust. also look in to rotated transmission mounts to get rid of wheel hop. then if you're still not satisfied with times, single pass intake manifold, pulley, and injectors.

but if you want to do some road racing, you don't necessarily need the power mods. focus on suspension, making the car incur less drag, braking, etc.

Yep, everything's bone stock except the appearance. Just looking for some mods that won't make me completely broke but will make my car a little more fun to drive haha

Well we need to know how much extra cash flow u have to tell u what to get but when I was stock my first 3 mods was Header DP Catback, but if I had known what I know now id get upgraded transmission mounts first, Get any company stage 1 front tranny mount kit(I have ottp) and a rear LNF ungraded rear trans mount from crateenginedepot.com and u will remove pretty much all wheel hop at ur current power level and improve drive ability of the car. I dont know if u have noticed the 1st gear jerking that happens on the stock mounts but with upgraded mounts that is eliminated.
this is the front tranny mount kit - OTTP Rotated Trans Mounts
This is the rear tranny mount - Cobalt SS TC LNF MU3 Trans Mount Rear 20814995
all of that will run you about 140 before shipping

your engine mount sucks and vibrant is over priced

you got your mounts backwards you want the rear mount rotated as it does most of the work also for wheel hop help look int a set of spherical control arm bushings

by far. If you don't have any warranty, which I believe by now almost all the SS/SCs are out of warranty, then you shouldn't bother getting a GM stage kit, as you won't make close to as much power.

My opinion on modding cars is to start with the exhaust and work your way foreward.

I wouldn't reccoment buying a cold air. It was my first purchase on my car, however I didn't know about the airbox mod... Look it up and save some big $$$ I heard it flows just as well if not better than a cold air.

Umm no my mounts aint backwards, the stage kit comes with a spacer to make the mount rotated, u should know this since u are always so quick to correct others. staged07ss runs the powells front tranny mount with LNF rear with spacer, and powell even tells people to go staged 1 with spacer for the rear mount.

It's a waste when ZZP's S2 gives you better gains for less money

dont waste money on catbacks either, just do a downpipe($150), injectors($80-$150 depending what size), pulley($30-$50 size depends on injectors), stage 2 belt($45 new), and most importantly find a good tuner($150-$200 depending on there price for tunning). its just a basic good way to start and have a noticeable gain. Then go from there to cooling mods etc

my rotated rear mount from ottp dosent use a spacer and the front mount location dosent look any different then stock it just has a better bushing in it

I know that thats why I told him to order the stage 1 kit and not stage 2, do u enjoy trying to correct people when they aint even wrong? Stage 1 ottp mounts is the front mount and a spacer for the rear mount, and I told him to order the lnr rear mount so he would have pretty much no vibes and good mount setup. Honestly u need to take the time to read peoples post instead of jumping on the first chance u think u see where someone has made an error.

i dident jump pooky and if you want more information most of the wheel hop comes from the shity rear control arm bushings allowing the lower control arm to have over exagerated flex and that gets transmitted to the wheels and axles and you can fix 90% of wheel hop with spherical control arm bushings
