Big problem with LSJ.

http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....rm=redline&p=2

Watch this vid. Mine does this exact same thing at about the same time his does. It started sometime after the CAI, I dunno if the CAI had anything to do with it though. Does anyone else experience this?

Yeah, I hit the red line in first a few times. That's what happens to me, but I think Bulldog knows better than that. When does it happen?

Wait I just watched that again in full screen mode. Watch the tach closely in the middle of 3rd. It reaches about 5k then jumps to 4k and then back while the engine is still accelerating, just before he shuts it down.

I don't know if mine does it or not, too busy watching the road.

Its happened to me before.... mine didn't misfire or anything, its just the tach spazzing a little bit. I've noticed it 2 or 3 times....

On a related note... if you tach out the new solstice with the clutch in the speedo will pump to like 10mph for a split 2nd.... the one I test drove did it every time...

You can definately see the RPM drop . Its more than the tach spazzing out , cuz the sound of the engine correlates with the rpm drop . It doesnt really sound like a missfire to me at all . Sounds more like the ignition or fuel is getting completely getting shut down for a split second . My car has never once done this .

dude you hit the redline in 3rd! shift dude shift!

The car isnt shutting down at the end of the vid . He put it neutral

BullDog71ss - run a scan tool ( if u have access ) on your car and see what exactly the spark advance and 02 values do .

I think I have only seen this once or 2 befor. I really do not drive the car that hard any more so I really do not know. I know that the car has hiccups sometimes but I can only think that it could be do to the closed fuel rail. No return line. Might be that some times the Fuel rail gets drained enough for a hiccup. I am just guessing on this one though. Also it makes sens that the 3 ticka ticka sounds that I hear when I shut off the car is that it is relieving excessive pressure in the line so it dose not wear seals. This is also a just my opinion. To verify this some one need to monitor the pressure in the fuel rail to see if it dips down and if the car's rpm follows this dip. I think you would only experience this under WOT for an extended period of time. Dose anyone know were someone can monitor the fuel pressure that the CPU sees?

On a side note my 05 ss sc is running grate. It has power when I need it but I mostly drive at speed limit.

My Cobalt does that, I actually had taken it to the dealership after I put 3k miles on it to be sure and that problem is related to to much air, not enough fuel they said. It hicups. A programmable reflash was done but turned out the intake was choking the supercharger in high boost conditions.. lovely isn't it? the problem stopped after the K&N was installed.

Bulldog has the K&N CAI though, and noticed it after he installed it. See first post.

Well don't know what to tell him, sounds like his throttle body is sticking closed when shifting between gears for a quick sec if he is not power shifting.

Mine missfires occasionally. It does it every now and then only under WOT and only between 3K-5K RPM's, did it before and after I installed my K&N intake. No one believes me and the delear cannot duplicate the issue so, therefore they wont do anything about it.

It's definetely NOT me hitting the rev limiter. I'm not that effing stupid. It's a hiccup in the fuel/spark at around 5,000-5,500 rpm on full throttle runs in 3rd and 4th gears. It's also has nothing to do with gear changes as it happens long after the gear has be selected. It really does feel like the car just runs out of fuel for a second, then it kicks back to life after dropping down 1,000 rpm or so and climbs happily to redline. Who knows, maybe a new calibration would do the trick, but either way it's irritating as hell and it's happened about 5 times so far.

Although your problem is a serious issue in it's own right, it's a bit different from what myself and a few other have experinced with our SS/SC's. What happens to me is not a tach malfuntion, but a hiccup in the fuel/spark when at high boost/rpm's. It completely shuts the power off like you hit the rev limiter and dumps you down from 5,500 to 4,500 then continues climbing again like nothing was wrong. Only problem is, the motor is no where near the rev-limit when this is happening.

GM...you SUCK!

Don't worry about it too much. For a week straight my car did the same thing about 4 times in one week. That was when I only had my K&N, but after that week it hasn't done it since. It hasn't even done it with my psi-fi kit. Hopefuly your's will go away on it's own like mine did.

well my friend took his redline in today , atleast 1 plug was bad the ground electrode was gone

had the p0300 missfire code set

well tonight it started acting up again , it started loosing power under boost about 90mph , i went for a ride with him the cel started flashing , and stayed on , and lack of power about 70 now , and just before you get into boost

he bought the car last week , with 37k on it , its still under the dealers 90day , plug he got a extended policy , im thinking something in his is hurt badly

he is taking it back this week , and droping it off so that they actually have time to look deep into it

mine SS/SC has done that one time but it was in 2nd gear and it just like died and i put it back in first and poped the clutch and it started right up and the check engine light went off like 50 restarts and 2 hours later it was running fine. but durning thost 2 hours i cluldnt go past like 25 mph. and i had to go through like all 5 gears. is seamed like it was running on only 2 cylinders.
