Hey guys,

I was driving my car and had it in second gear wot and at 6500RPM the car backfired big time and then i left off the gas and the car exhaust sounded 2x louder. Definitely something wrong. I figured it was my 4th piston... I remember Blown4banger has a video of his cobalt on streetfire.net and he blew his engine up.. pretty much the same thing sept for no oil everywhere.

What should i do now? What parts do i buy or what?! lol

Compression check would be the first I'd do.

Hold it at a steady RPM too. If you sound ANYTHING like a WRX during accel or idle, check it out.

Is it blowing white smoke? When idling does it sound like it has a lope to it? Any knocking?

Nope, no white smoke, what do u mean by Lope?! no knocking anywhere. Engine sounds fine, car sounds completely normal at idle, and only sounds 2x louder when i put the gas into it.

Engine mods. Meth 2.5 60lb ported blower, full exhaust, and cia.

 

also try a leak down test it could be your head

jbp has crated performance lsjs...they're just ridiculously expensive. Depending on what you destroyed you may be able to replace what's busted. Probably a piston(s) but could also be damage to the valve train (as valve struck a piston). The emphasis is on may.

 

I'll go check it out, but it sounds normal at idle but accel it's like a WRX for sure.

 

u could have blown out your exhaust manifold gasket... have a buddy put a towel on the tail pipe to block the exhaust and listen for leaks

Looks like the car make a consistain clicking out of the exhaust... and it does sound like a WRX idle and acel...

maybe its an exhaust leak had something similar happen to me.
and a though blowing the #4 piston always made it quiter. atleast your dipstick didn't pop out and blow oil everywhere

 

Guarantee it's a piston.

If it sounds like a WRX during accel it's gone.

for some reason i have a feeling its not a blown motor. I am guessing that it is either a broken flex pipe, major exhaust leak, etc. Just doesnt feel blown to me, keep your head up and let us know the details.

Checked the pipe. looks good. BUt i'l definitely keep you guys posted. Definitely has to be blown cus the engine light blinks and has well less *****.

umm i have to fix one of my wheels (******* pothles in this city) and im going to run twin intercooler setup, and im sure a few other things here and there, short shifter and what not

 

might hve blown ur cat out, that would throw a CEL BTW. so would any leak before the O2 sensor FYI

 

Exhaust is Catless, and checked O2 sensors, thanks tho bro
