Blown Motor

So I think my 4th piston is about to say to me soon...Car bounced off the rev limiter at 6k (actual redline 7k). Pulled over and dip stick had shot out a ways...I have done some reading on some pistons and im having trouble finding the price on some Diamond pistons for my engine. I looked in the online catalog, No luck. Can someone help me find the price for then direct from diamond...and what other pistons do you guys recomend...ANY help would be appreciated guys!!!!!!111

Intense has 10 and 10.5 Diamonds in stock with both coatings & rings if you need everything ASAP. I got them next day in mail.

CPP has them too, but probably will be waiting longer, plus I don't believe they have rings.

Those are the only 2 places that carry them, besides getting them direct from Diamond.

Just cause the dipstick poped out doesn't mean your #4 piston is on its way out. Mine did then I put the updated intake gasket in and now no more problems.

do not go with 10.5 or 10.0:1 pistons.... if you want your car to run right without race gas.

that is all.

Before you jump to any conclusions at least do a compression test man. Or you could just jump to conclusions and get some bad ass pistons .

Do you have to pull the motor to put neutral balance shafts in?

you could get away by just dropping it down a bit.. but since I'm personally building a motor on a stand... it's just easier

If you drop the oil pan (which I assume you already did to get rods/pistons out) then you can lower the motor onto the subframe by removing mounts. That should give you clearance for nuetral balance shafts.

With mine, it went from sounding fine, to sounding like a WRX, in the end I had 80% compression leakage on cylinder 4

Exactly.

I hope you guys realize that these "Official blown engine threads" and the #4 piston talk is just installing fear into the cobalt community...especially that 80% of the people who are on this forum are extreme followers and when one person says something, it's written in stone that this is going to happen to them.

He had a little blow by and now he thinks he needs new pistons...
