boost backing off

I have an 06 ss/sc with 3.0in, 42s and a zzp tune. When my veh. hits 5,500 rpm my boost goes from 15-17 to 10-12. Is anyone running this kind of setup on there stock exhaust. I have a feeling my stock exhaust is causing to much back pressure at hgh rpm. can anyone verify?

its not your exhaust... superchargers don't work like turbos, the exhaust should be the least of your worries.

sounds like the boost bypass valve is opening, most likely a tuning fix

yup, sounds like belt slip, if you don't have a stage 2 belt or aftermarket tensioner then that may be the problem

that happens on stock cobalts... the bypass mod will work for this... it supposed to bleed off boost

Yeah, if it was the bypass it would open before it got to 17psi, it wouldn't let it go past 12.5 unless they changed it, and a ZZP tune will have adjusted that.

if the iat2's are too hot. it will back off the boost till it cools down.

check and see if your aftercooler pump is working.

I disagree. the more air coming in the more exhuast needs to leave. this is why all the aftermarket company's are recom. exhaust mods with stage 2,3 etc... but I agree with the fact that the exhuast may not be my number 1 concern because I have raced guys with the same setup with exhaust mods and I pull them. this is why my exhaust has not been changed yet. about the response from area47, I tested your concern. after about 3-5min of warm up I went out and got on the car. 15-17psi to 7k with no concerns with the boost backing off. now I do see boost start to back off after 5,500 when the veh. was been running for more than about 1/2 hour..... I do believe my pump is working because I just put the updated intake and blower gasket on my car and I was able to bleed the aftercooler while the veh. was running, but I will verify. could my mods be to much for my stock cooling system to take? I'm guessing you need a tech 2 or hp tuners to look at your iat2 sensor? please if anyone has heard of this problem let me know. a belt slip is not happening I have a gm shorten belt which was tighter than ***** to get on the zzp 3in.

that can't be the problem. it only happens after the veh. has be running for a while and over 5500k.
