Boost Bypass not helping 2.9" pulley

Well, I have the 2.9" billetflow pulley and around 4K+ I notice some very weird muffled distorted sounds with the Supercharger. Is it possible that the Boost Bypass is bleeding off the extra boost and causing my supercharger to make these weird noises? I've tried doing the Boost Bypass mod and while it does keep that weird noise from happening, I notice that my car feels real sluggish. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm in the process of getting either stage 1 and an HP Tuners tune or just go with some larger fuel injectors and the HP Tuner's complete tune. In the meanwhile I don't like the weird noises coming from my supercharger. Anyone have any suggestions?

You should be running a colder spark plug. Something along the lines of a BKR7E from NGK. If not you could be experiencing some detonation. The boost bypass would not hurt your car at all and may be a pre existing condition from something else you may have done. If you have a stage reflash you should not be using the boosy bypass but it sounds like your not staged so you should be fine.

Thanks for the info, but I'm actually running BKR8s now. Have been running them for about a week and still the same thing as before with the stock plugs. The reason I'm running 2 steps colder is because that was what was recommended to me by ZZPerformance. I also have a K&N CAI, maybe the combination of both without any tuning is the cause of the weird noises?!?!?!

Direct pulley swap with not running different injectors? Sounds like it's starving for fuel.

No his car is fine fuel wise. I was running more than that and was still cool fuel wise. I would not be runnin 8 heat range plugs with the 2.9". If you wanna trust ZZP thats cool, but I would HIGHLY recommend pulling your plugs and checking them. If you dont know how to take some pics of them and we'll see where your at. You should have some good hesitation, almost like your saying your experiencing, with 8 heat range plugs. Please go get some BKR7E's (they arent that much) and throw those in.

Well, the only thing unusual is that I was running into the same issue with the stock BKR6s in there. When I do the boost bypass, it gets rid of that weird noise, but performance-wise across the board is worse

lol, get some 7 heat rang plugs and put the bypass on reset the ecu for about 10min and go for a ride. It should ride like a dream.

Well, I tried the Boost Bypass mod yet again, and as stated before, the weird noise after 4K goes away, but the power pretty much sucks. I guess I'll have to wait a few weeks/months and get the HP tuner suite

so you think running 1 step warmer will help? I'm running BKR8s right now, 2 steps colder than stock. ZZPerformance recommends 2 steps for anything smaller than a 3" and I'm running smaller than a 3" right now....I'm going to hold out for an HPTuner tune.........

Well, the noise has gone away. I noticed a hose between the supercharger and the fuel rail had a clamp on it that wasn't closed correctly. While trying to close the clamp, I managed to snap the plastic piece so I purchased a small metal clamp. Clamped the hose on tight, no more weird supercharger rattle noise. Pulls real hard still as well.

hey, you guys who posted here seem to like you would be able to help me. i am planning on running a 2.8" or 2.9" pulley with the 7 range plugs, probably 42.5lb/hr injectors too. No pcm tuning, just boost bypass mods. what do you guys think of this setup? will i have any problems (aside from the belt slipping)? anyone have ideas/numbers on KR or A/F with a similar setup?

You need some sort of tune to let the ECM know you are running the 42.5 injectors. and all the pulleys to get max results. Either a piggy back unit or direct tune although I'd suggest the direct tune since it will be more specific and will allow you to get the A/F ratio correct. I'm waiting for HP Tuners (and funds) so I can purchase their tunning suite and just tune the car as I need, of course I think the cost will start around $1400 so I'm starting to save now....
