my rotors were warped and grooved also after 12k so i bought ebc red stuff pads and got the rotors cut and now at about 17k the rotors are just like they were at 12k grooved and warped. Rotors is my next mod when funds permit. It still stops just with at of viberations and it gets worse as the brakes get hotter.

I have over 51K miles on mine...

Between 2000 - 35000 miles I was having the rotors serviced everytime I was in for an oil change. @ about 29000 miles, they put new front rotors and new pads all around. They also had cut the rear rotors ( 2nd time for them ).

The pulsation came back @ 32000 miles ( 4 weeks later )

@ 35000 miles, I changed the pads to Satisfied Brake's Pro Ceramic series and since then have had NO pulsation. That is with many Autocrosses and daily driving. I put over 100 miles a day on my car.

In MY CASE... changing the OEM style pads was all it took. Your results may vary.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM:

I have talked to several people "in the know". The problem is that the pads are a harder compound than the rotors. The benefit of this is ride quality. The down side is that if you drive your car hard like most of us do, the rotors wear quicker than the pads. Obviously causing the problems we are all experiencing. The easiest solution is to upgrade your rotors.

the ones they are replacing right now are zinc coated, will this prevent rust????????

brake rotors last about as long as the driver lets them. if you dont allow proper cooling, like you just stopped real hard from 60mph or over and then parked the car the rotors will not cool down properly so they will start to have excessive lateral runout. there are various other ways to warp a rotor. this is just one common way to warp them. the rotors will groove up a little due to the pad compound that gm has used. but this does not substantually decrease the ability of the rotor to stop the car. my brakes all stock had 40k miles on them when i replaced them and they had about 10% pad life left. now i have ebc turbo rotors and ebc green stuff pads. if installed properly i get aboslutely no brake noise. other than the growl any slotted adn drilled or dimpled rotor will make on a hard stop. even with this setup the car does not stop that much better than the stock brakes. i mean they stop with much less pedal effort but my 60-0 stops are only about 10ft shorter. as far as brake fade even on worn stock brakes i never got noticable brake fade. now i still have no noticable brake fade. basically what i am trying to say is no company can design every aspect of the car to take the level of abuse that some operators will inflict on the product.

you dont necessarily have to drive the car hard to warp your rotors, you just have to not allow the rotors cool properly and at the right pace to warp them. so im not suggesting everypne with warped rotors abuses their car just that they dont allow proper cooling.

i get wat your saying chevy..if you can warp a rotor just through a couple acts of "abuse" , so then you would think your not hard on your brakes when it was just that one or two times that caused it....can't always be the driver tho I'm sure quality of the parts plays in there somewhere, how much i dunno.

i think the stock ss/sc rotors are pretty descent. ive been using ebc pads for a while now as well. but as others said cleaning your brakes/ rotors can help eliminate the vibrations. i dont think grooves really hurt anything because once your pads bed in they'll take the shape of the rotors. if you make hard stops from high speeds it helps if possible not to sit at a stop with your foot on the brake pedal. this can cause your pad to burn your rotor and make a hard spot, then as the rest of the rotor surface wears normally the hard spot(s) wear more slowly and then you have runout. you can get it resurfaced but the problem will come back.

I would think it's the driving style of most people that have brake related problems so early, I have pretty much the same milage on my car and my brakes are allmost perfect.
