Brand New Car + Boost Question?
Brand New Car + Boost Question?
Well, the dealership finally came to my terms on a fully loaded 06 Silver SS/SC, so i picked her up today!
I have 200+ miles on the car already, and it is great! The only problem is the boost gauge only showed 3 LBS when I tried to get on it. Granted the car hauls A$$, but the gauge doesn't reflect it. Is my gauge defective or do I need to give it time?
I've read the posts about the stock gauge being inaccurate, but I would like to know if this is normal for the first "X" amount of miles. Thanks guys!

What gear and rpm is that in ? When I was stock in 1st gear the highest it would go was 5psi.... I think becuase the gear ends so quickly the gauge cant keep up... Then it second near redline it would read all the way up to 10.5psi...
My gauge would not go past 5# in 1st initially and I contaced GM about it. I took my car for a drive the next day to test it again and I hit full boost.
Not sure what caused the change, I assume I was not hard enough on it.

i test drove 1 , and it was hitting 12 psi in every gear , car had 7 miles on it , before i beat on it
and same with the redline drove it was in the 12 psi range also
best would be to hook up a mechanical boost gauge up and see if yours is off , if it is take it in to get looked at

Great News! I popped the hood for my buddy to look at and I was examining the vacuum line that everyone says to check. As I ran my fingers along the line I noticed that the electrical connector going to the small black box that the vacuum line runs from the bypass valve to and then to the manifold was not connected at all! I plugged her in and now I have my 12 PSI! I also unleashed the animal in the car too! It is so freaking fast now it's scary! I guess I was hardly boosting at all since I test drove the car! Needless to say I had to check my boxers after that ride!

Canadian should hit 86 kpa to equal 12.5 psi....(somewhere near there).....take it easy giving it a few spirited kicks (a few is like not many
) and it should run like a champ.
my .02 cents
