Broken Cat?..

I got a Vibrant header/Dp from someone and when I opened it I noticed the cat was loose on the inside..If I shake it I can feel it move..so it's messed up right?

Nah, I have about $360 into it and it's the header and D/P ..I'm not going to let just a cat ruin it that would probably not be much more than shipping it back...It was a trade anyway.

Need a new high flow cat...bummer. If you can deal with the sound I just say gut it and run with it.

Yeah, I'm going to go with a Vibrant resonator (maybe ZZP) and Vibrant muffler.Once I get that installed I will see how it sounds but as of now I plan on replacing the cat.

For the time being what is the best way to remove the "brick" moving around on the inside of the cat?

man im in the same boat as you. the guy i bought mine from "neglected" to mention that the cat was broken on mine. When i put it on the car ran like crap and the thing would jingle in there, at low RPMs, and a sounded like a retarded kid discovered the fun in shaking a rock in a can all day!

I just punched mine out. Its a tad raspier at mid-high RPMs but at WOT and crusing doen low it sounds awsome. It also depends on what exhaust you have. I have the corsa touring and i kinda like it now.

to knock it out just take two socket wrench extendors together and start wacking at it. i'll eventually give out and crumble.

Yeah, I don't think the guy sent it like that.We both shipped the same day (on a Saturday) he got his the next monday and the PO took almost a month for mine to get in.When I got it the box was messed up, part of the D/P was sticking out a corner.I'm sure they mishandled it and broke the cat.
As far as getting it out I have to be careful to not break the flexpipe.

The flexpipe should be mesh so it shouldn't be a huge problem.

Yes it is "mesh" but I don't want to crack it on the inside as it is sealed.
