Build Advice.
okay so heres the deal, my car has high miles... 107672 to be exact. so because of the high miles im wanting to build the motor so that when i have fun with it this summer i dont crack a sleeve and cry myself to sleep. will have roughly $2000.
already thinking a new block..have one lined up with 10k miles... forged pistons.. keeping stock rods. all new bearings.. ZZP 78# ecotec valve springs and all new valves from dezod motorsports (supertech stainless steel stock bore triple grooved.) and arp head studs.
if anyone has an opinion id like to hear it or suggests something else id also like to hear it... thanks!

arp head studs would be a must as well instead of the stock head bolts. You should also consider porting the head since it's gonna come off anyway when you do your sleeve job. If you have the money for another block, then by all means get it so you can take your time with your build and still have your car to drive around in. But what are your plans honestly? Turbo or bigger s/c?
If you have something else to drive i would rebuild the motor thats already in it. unless your getting one hell of a deal on it. $2000 isnt alot when it comes to building a motor. i have $2000 into a 350sbc im building and i just got done with internals. idk what high miles is on the 2.0 but 107k really isnt alot
the one thing im stressing over is the sleeves...idk if i should get darton or not...that will suck up ALOT of my money... if i can avoid getting sleeves i would like to.... any advice on this one?
as long as you've been good about changing the oil and making sure it doesnt get low the walls of the sleeve should have very little wear. now if you've been beating the crap out of it for the past 100k miles then you may have some wear.but if you get new sleeves i suggest new pistons as well.

anything can look new from the outside.
do you know who build the motor your looking at?
even a fresh build motor can be messed up if it wasnt build right. like spun main and rod bearings can get expensive.

well hell if its a bare block then there really isnt too much to look for besides any stress cracks. use new bearings(cam bearings suck btw) and if you plan on putting in a bigger cam get new lifters also since the old ones will be worn from the lobes of the old cam.
i heard bigger cams are a b with these motors... so i was just gonna keep the stock ones. and do you know where i can find a complete engine gasket set? would the local parts store have them you think?
summit racing has alot of stuff. they should have quite a few different gasket sets. i like fel-pro gaskets myself but buy w/e you like.
But your local auto store should be able to get you everything you need

ok cool and as far as turbo kits go, what is up with the ebay turbo kits for 600... they say they fit the cobalt ss but there isnt even an oil lines or anything? that wont work will it.
DO NOT GO EBAY! you get what you pay for! and might as well get rods too you can get them for $450. dont skimp on anything. do it all right the first time so you dont have to go back and spend more money.
